Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) exhibits the ability to metastasize hematogenously distant organs. Spinal metastasis is an unusual site for that even when it does, spinal manifests late in course of disease and frequently linked advanced a bad prognosis. Until 2019, literature only showed 29 cases FTC with as first presenting feature. We present case 67-year-old female who presented acute onset severe neurological deficit ended up bedridden. Magnetic resonance imaging spine revealed lesion causing cord compression. Urgent surgical decompression was performed, histopathology confirmed metastatic FTC. Subsequent comprehensive evaluation, unveiled primary tumor.FTC accounts 1 % all malignancies, Therefore, regardless how irrelevant symptoms may appear at first, important understand risk factors, screening recommendations, diagnostic techniques, treatment, vast range potential symptoms. Just like our patient, had incontinence abrupt loss motor sensory function her lower limbs be diagnosed compression by FTC.This instance emphasizes crucial consider possible differential diagnosis metastasis, there no known cancer. Prompt diagnosis, staging, multidisciplinary management are optimizing outcomes.

Lymph node metastases in non-well differentiated thyroid cancer (non-WDTC) are common, both the central compartment (levels VI and VII) lateral neck (Levels II to V). Nodal negatively affect prognosis should be treated maximize locoregional control while minimizing morbidity. In non-WDTC, rate of nodal involvement is variable depends on histology tumor. For medullary carcinomas, poorly anaplastic high frequency lymph makes dissection generally necessary. mucoepidermoid malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors, sarcomas, teratomas or thyroblastomas, less often necessary, as clinical lymphnode common. We aim summarize medical literature opinions several experts from different parts world current philosophy for managing common types cancer.

Objective Repeat radioiodine (RAI) treatment has been widely implemented for RAI-avid lung metastases and is clinically effective metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). We aim to investigate the association between interval of RAI short-term response, side effects in patients with from DTC identify predictors non-effective response next treatment. Methods A total 282 course pairs 91 were established categorized into two groups by neighboring (<12 ≥12 months), characteristics compared. Multivariate logistic regression was used associated response. The former latter compared while taking account interval. Results No significant difference found (p > 0.05). In multivariate analysis, age ≥ 55 years (OR = 7.29, 95% CI 1.66–33.35, p 0.008), follicular 5.00, 1.23–22.18, 0.027), a second as 4.77, 1.42–18.61, 0.016) significantly There no courses Conclusion does not affect metastases. It feasible defer repeat evaluation an at least 12 months obtain reduce risk effects.

Background To evaluate the outcomes in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients who achieved excellent response to initial treatment and developed distant metastasis during follow-up. Methods Thyroid registered Chang Gung Memorial Hospital database between January 1979 December 2019 were assessed. Results Among 1053 DTC with therapy, 14 (1.3%) metastatic disease follow-up, including 6 males 8 females median age of 50.2 years [interquartile range (IQR), 39.9-53.7]. Nine (64.3%) had papillary cancer, four (28.6%) follicular one (7.1%) Hürthle cell cancer. Most (92.9%) stage I at diagnosis. The sites lung (71.4%), bone (7.1%), mediastinum multiple (14.3%). With a follow-up 18.3 (IQR, 14.8-23.8), 2 disease-specific mortality. 5- 10-year survival after diagnosis was 92% 74%, respectively. Multiple associated increased risk mortality (P = 0.022). Conclusions A small proportion an excellence therapy organ metastases conferred worse survival.

There is still few specific real-world data regarding prognosis the differentiated (DTC). The purpose of this study evaluate prognostic factors and survival rate DTC metastasis. This retrospective included 14,603 from 2010 2015, including 447 distant metastasis via Surveillance, Epidemiology End Results (SEER) database. overall (OS) cancer-specific (CSS) or non-metastasis were determined by univariate multivariate analysis. Age, primary site operation, radiotherapy, chemotherapy tumor size associated OS CSS Compared without surgery, total thyroidectomy showed significantly better OS. For radiotherapy was improving CSS.
