The impacts of climate change, such as increased soil dryness and nutrient deficiency, highlight the need for environmentally sustainable restoration forests groundwater resources. However, it is important to consider that extensive afforestation efforts may lead a depletion supply due higher evapotranspiration rates, exacerbating water scarcity issues. Consequently, we conducted study examine how fast-growing tree species Populus sibirica (Horth ex Tausch) Ulmus pumila (L.) respond morpho-physiologically varying watering regimes types fertilizers, aiming better understand their specific requirements. We used two-year-old nursery-growth seedlings (N = 512) P. U. with initial root collar diameter (RCD) height 0.51 ± 0.02 mm 68 2.94 cm 0.33 0.01 51 1.14 cm, respectively. leaf area (LA), (SLA), chlorophyll concentration, stomatal conductance (gs), fluorescence, predawn midday potential were measured across treatments. Four different irrigation two fertilizer applied: no (control, 0 L h-1), 2 h-1 0.25 m-2, 4 0.5 8 1.0 m-2 120 g 500 tree-1 NPK compost (COMP). Twelve plots (600 m2) established in site each treatments.During first growing season (2021), LA was larger 4-8 without fertilizer, but smaller h-1+ COMP during second (2022). + had compared control (CONT) seasons, respectively, pumila. at highest SLA 2021 2022, whereas CONT than other treatments 2022 concentration year generally CONT, while any yielded significantly Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (PIABS Fm) lower with/without or both species. NPK/COMP gs experimental periods pumila, NPK-treated greater year, potentials lowest followed by season, pattern observed season. Overall, morpho-physiological traits affected treatments, magnitude effects varied depending on amount irrigation, type, interactions.

Household food consumption is the associative link between ecosystems and anthropogenic activities. In grassland areas, inappropriate patterns will cause irreversible damage to vulnerable local ecosystems. For this study, we selected three typical transitional areas of Inner Mongolia, China (i.e., meadow steppe, desert steppe), analyze spatial heterogeneity in household nutritional characteristics. Results showed that: (a) Food structures exhibited zonal gradients from east west alongside a reduction conditions. Additionally, average quantity also decreased. Available supplies altered preferences for vegetables fruits, meat, dairy products, other category types. (b) The structure implied that grains provided main source energy, proteins, fat rural households, while beans (including bean byproducts), oils caused fluctuation residents. (c) Local affect short-term patterns, socioeconomic development affects long-term patterns. This study intended provide reference sustainable strategies regional resource management.

Under the conditions of climate warming, grassland degradation, frequent sandstorms, and fast increases in livestock numbers, coordinating animal husbandry ecological protection is an important issue facing Mongolia. Using Khutag-Undur as example, this study explores dynamic process, future scenarios, optimization strategies system a typical Soum Mongolia from 2015 to 2050 under three socioeconomic scenarios CMIP 6: SSP1-RCP2.6, SSP2-RCP4.5, SSP5-RCP8.5. First, was deconstructed into subsystems: primary production, secondary herder consumption. Based on negative feedback mechanism forage-livestock balance, dynamics model for developed. This integrates spatial data such land cover NPP, well statistical livestock, income expenditures, sample plot surveys, questionnaires. The used simulate historical changes (2015–2022) forage production carrying capacity, stock, output Khutag-Undur, then forecast those variables 2022–2050. Second, most suitable scenario identified by comparing using pastural sustainability evaluation method. Finally, based indicators two-step reduction strategy proposed. main conclusions are that rapid growth numbers places considerable pressure grassland, SSP1-RCP2.6 Soum. However, even scenario, overloading remains evident. continuous implementation recommended maintain sustainable development conservation.

The combination of logging, burning, and livestock farming has been the main driver European landscape sustainability for thousands years. Whether or not could keep these habitats on their own is under debate when extensive grazing kept understory in forests high environmental value that, turn, are affected by global warming. In this work, impact beef cattle diversity, shrub cover, primary production Atlantic Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) northern Spain evaluated. research studied feeding habits using faecal cuticle micro histological analysis dung samples. Then, effects cover alpha diversity woody plants were Finally, oaks’ phenology grazed control areas compared. results show that feed (an average 30% non-leguminous woody) annual plant species (more than 20% forbs) but do affect vegetation. However, differed between ungrazed treatments, probably due to spatial variability forests. It can be concluded considered a sustainable silvopastoral activity with neutral forest integrity.
