Abstract Garra rufa , commonly known as the “doctor fish”, is a freshwater cyprinid native to warm regions of Middle East. Since late twentieth century, it has been widely utilized in spas for alternative therapeutics and fish pedicures (or manicures) dermatological diseases such psoriasis eczema. Owing its unique characteristics, there growing interest exploring various applications G. . This review provides comprehensive summary phylogenetic position, ecology, biological breeding methods insights into use therapeutic fish. Notably, ability thrive high-temperature environments exceeding 37 °C distinguishes from other cyprinids suggests potential model human diseases, infectious cancer xenograft models high-throughput drug screening. The ongoing genome sequencing project aims elucidate mechanisms underlying tolerance offers valuable genomic resources. These efforts have resulted significant advances aquaculture, species conservation, biomedical research.

Global warming has heightened the severity and frequency of extreme high-temperature events, presenting challenges to fish survival negatively affecting production fishery. Gymnocypris eckloni, native Tibetan Plateau, is widely cultured in southwest China. Its sensitivity heat makes it a suitable model for studying impact high temperatures on fish. The heart vital organ survival, while relatively understudied concerning hearts. In this study, G. eckloni was subjected seven-day exposure 27 °C followed by transfer 18 recovery period. Behavioral tests revealed significant increase locomotor speed, distance, respiratory rate at °C. Serum indices exhibited significantly elevated stress indicators (cortisol) kinases associated with damage (lactate dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase isoenzyme 1, creatine kinase, kinase isoenzyme, aspartate transaminase) °C, histological analyses have confirmed occurrence temperatures. After 7 days recovery, most these showed decrease compared group, no differences observed control group. Transcriptomic widespread involvement ferroptosis, P53 signaling pathway, oxidative phosphorylation, myocardial contraction, DNA repair pathway response Our study offers systematic exploration effects providing valuable insights cultivation high-altitude

Ectothermic animals, such as teleosts, have increasingly been exposed to stressful high-temperature events due global warming. Currently, the effects of thermal stress on skeletal muscle, a key tissue for fish growth, are unknown. This study examined impact muscle transcriptome rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in control (15 °C) and (20 conditions. Additionally, we plasmatic levels cortisol, glucose, creatine kinase activity, oxidative damage autophagy activation muscle. High-temperature induced significant increases cortisol glucose levels. Nevertheless, no changes were observed activity plasma oxidation. Skeletal RNA was isolated sequenced using HiSeq Illumina platform. A total 383,796,290 reads mapped onto reference genome. The transcriptomic analysis showed that 293 genes upregulated group, mainly associated with autophagosome assembly, amino acid transport, glutamine metabolic process. On other hand, 119 downregulated digestion, proteolysis, contraction In addition, RT-qPCR differentially expressed representative Western blot LC3-II/LC3-I confirmed by high temperature. sheds light intriguing facets adaptive response provides insights into physiology teleosts.

This study aimed to explore the effects of heat stress and black sand acute exposure on erythron profile, hematological antioxidant parameters, as well histological histochemical indices. Catfish were subjected nanoparticles (6.4 g per kg diet), thermal (32 °C), a combined treatment involving both stressors over period 15 days. exposed singly and/or in combination showed significantly lower red blood cells (RBCs) count, hemoglobin (Hb), platelets, white (WBCs) large lymphocytes, small monocytes. Antioxidant indices decreased NPs compared other groups. Notably, led substantial increase percentages RBCs alterations nuclear abnormalities. Histological examinations liver revealed various features, including intracellular bleeding, cytoplasmic vacuolation, tissue deterioration, hepatocyte pyknotic nuclei, displacement, shrinkage, accumulation melanomacrophage cells. In conclusion, underscores that indices, become more pronounced under elevated temperatures indicating potential for synergistic between pollution climate change. holistic approach is crucial developing accurate forecasts complex interactions environmental their implications aquatic ecosystems.
