Estuarine ecosystems hold significant importance within global ecosystems, and modeling serves as a crucial tool for analyzing them. With the continuous progress in this field, systematically reviewing research on estuarine ecosystem has become increasingly necessary, providing essential support future advancements domain. This study employs bibliometric methods to analyze relevant literature from Web of Science database, evaluating development trends, status, hotspots, regional characteristics. The results reveal that, since 1978, number publications related shown general upward trend, attracting widespread attention institutions worldwide, with United States leading field. analysis high-frequency keywords indicates that many scholars have conducted in-depth studies using approaches, “eutrophication” being hotspot. Cluster demonstrate primarily focuses three areas: environmental management, biogeochemical cycling, food web dynamics. Comparing across different regions highlights disparities Compared North America, Europe, East Asia, Africa, South Asia is relatively limited. Despite unique ecological functions these regions, they remain underexplored understudied.
