Microplastics (MPs) pollution and its associated toxicity raising concerns among scientists as a result of their toxicological impacts on human health the ecosystem. This study aims to investigate microplastics heavy metals (HMs) contamination in seventeen freshwater fish species collected from Southwestern region Bangladesh. extracted these using hydrogen peroxide digestion method characterized by Attenuated Total Reflection- Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR). Atomic Absorption (AAS) was used determine concentration HMs different for evaluating risks. A total 142 microplastic particles were with an average 1.13 ± 0.84 items per individual fish, where highest found C. punctata (3.43 3.15 items) lowest A. mola (0.14 0.38 items). Identified dominated < 1 mm size (87.3%), black color (60.6%), fiber shape (94.4%). Polyethylene (73.08%), polypropylene (21.15%), polystyrene (5.77%) most prevalent identified polymers. positive correlation between numbers weight length. Low moderate risks microplastics. The (mg/kg) studied samples Cr (0.47–2.89; 0.79 0.56) > Cu (0.01–1.14; 0.50 0.44) Pb (0.04–0.58; 0.22 0.12) Cd (0.00–0.11; 0.03 0.03), respectively. Heavy metals-based risk assessment results show that there are no major non-carcinogenic (THI<1), while higher carcinogenic present consumers.

Plastic and microplastic pollution is an environmental societal concern. The interaction of plastic with organic chemicals in the environment has attracted scientific interest. New evidences have highlighted unexpectedly high affinity plastics also for metal ions. degree typology ageing (including from mechanical, UV biological degradations) appear as a pivotal factor determining such interaction. These earlier recently opened new research avenue area. This review first to organize critically discuss knowledge developed so far. Results field laboratory studies accumulation on are presented factors most likely control discussed. On light this knowledge, generalist conceptual model useful building hypotheses mechanisms at stake directing future was elaborated here. Furthermore, all available data thermodynamics plastic-metal obtained experiments inventoried discussed here, highlighting methodological technical challenges that can potentially affect cross-comparability their relevance settings. Finally, insights recommendations experimental approaches analytical techniques help overtaking current limitations gaps proposed.

Biologically active environmental pollutants have significant impact on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. Microplastic (MP) nanoplastic (NP) particles are that present in the terrestrial aquatic ecosystems at virtually every level of food chain. Moreover, recently, airborne microplastic been shown to reach potentially damage respiratory systems. Microplastics nanoplastics cause increased oxidative stress, inflammation, altered metabolism leading cellular damage, which ultimately affects tissue organismal homeostasis numerous animal species cells. However, full these plastic living organisms is not completely understood. The ability MPs/NPs carry contaminants, toxic chemicals, pesticides, bioactive compounds, such as endocrine disrupting an additional risk This review will discusses current knowledge pathways by reproduction reproductive behaviors from whole organism down plastics-induced defects, while also identifying gaps regarding mechanisms action. Furthermore, we suggest nematode
