The available information regarding the impact of antimony (Sb), a novel environmental pollutant, on intestinal microbiota and host health is limited. In this study, we conducted physiological characterizations to investigate response adult zebrafish different concentrations (0, 30, 300, 3000 µg/L) Sb over period 14 days. Biochemical pathological changes demonstrated that effectively compromised integrity physical barrier induced inflammatory responses as well oxidative stress. Analysis both microbial community metabolome revealed exposure 0 30 µg/L resulted in similar structures; however, 300 altered communities' composition (e.g., decline genus Cetobacterium an increase Vibrio). Furthermore, significantly decreased levels bile acids glycerophospholipids while triggering inflammation but activating self-protective mechanisms such antibiotic presence. Notably, even can trigger dysbiosis metabolites, potentially impacting fish through "microbiota-intestine-brain axis" contributing disease initiation. This study provides valuable insights into toxicity-related concerning impacts aquatic organisms with significant implications for developing management strategies.

The gut–liver axis is essential in animal disease and health. However, the role of anti-disease mechanism disease-resistant grass carp (DRGC) derived from backcross female gynogenetic (GGC) male (GC) remains unclear. This study analyzed changes gut histopathology, fecal intestinal microflora metabolites, liver transcriptome between GC DRGC. Histological analysis revealed significant differences DRGC GC. In addition, microbial community analyses indicated that hybridization induced microbiome variation by significantly increasing proportion Firmicutes Bacteroidota Metabolomic data hybridization-induced metabolic change was probably characterized being related to taurocholate sphinganine Transcriptome suggested enhanced resistance primarily attributed immune-related genes (SHMT2, GOT1, ACACA, DLAT, GPIA, TALDO1, G6PD, FASN). Spearman’s correlation a association microbiota, genes, metabolites. Collectively, axis, through interconnected microbiome–metabolite–gene pathway, may play crucial greater DRGC, offering valuable insights for advancing cultivation industry.

As novel environmental contaminants, MPs exist widely in the environment and accumulate organisms, which has become a global ecological problem. MP perturbations of organismal physiology behavior have been extensively recorded aquatic animals, but potential effects on poultry are not well characterized. Here, we explored adverse exposure growth performance gut microbiota chickens. Results showed that chickens decreased significantly during exposure. Additionally, Firmicutes, Bacteroidota, Proteobacteria were found to be dominant MP-exposed chickens, regardless health status. Although types bacteria did change, abundances some structure changed significantly. Compared with controls, alpha diversity exposed significant decrease. The results comparative analyses between groups levels 1 phyla (Proteobacteria) 18 genera dramatically decreased, whereas (Cyanobacteria) 12 increased, In summary, this study provides evidence impact microbial composition leading imbalance. This may raise widespread public concern about threat caused by contamination, is relevant maintenance quality protection health.

The objective of this study was to examine the effects dietary Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) consisting Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bunge (AMT) and Codonopsis pilosula (Franch.) Nannf (CPO) extracts on growth performance, antioxidant capacity, immune status, intestinal health broiler chickens. Two groups were formed, each six replicates 12 one-day-old healthy male 817 white feather broilers. Broilers fed either a basal diet (CON group) or supplemented with 500 mg/kg CHM. trial lasted 50 days. results showed that CHM supplementation resulted in enhanced feed efficiency capacity both serum liver, while it reduced uric acid endotoxin levels, as well diamine oxidase activity (p < 0.05). Additionally, treatment increased height jejunum villi upregulated Claudin-1 expression jejunal mucosa accompanied by an increase mRNA levels interleukin-6 (IL-6), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interferon-β (IFN-β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) presence caused proportions Bacteroidetes unclassified Bacteroidales but led decrease those Firmicutes Alistipes composition microbiota correlated conversion ratio, metabolites, gene based Spearman correlation analysis. findings indicated consumption improved utilization feed, pro-inflammatory cytokines mucosa, decreased level activities lactate dehydrogenase serum, which could potentially be linked changes gut
