Forests
play
a
crucial
role
in
global
carbon
cycling
by
absorbing
and
storing
significant
amounts
of
atmospheric
dioxide.
Although
boreal
forests
contribute
to
approximately
45%
the
total
forest
sink,
tree
growth
soil
sequestration
are
constrained
nutrient
availability.
Here,
we
examine
if
long-term
input
enhances
productivity
whether
this
leads
storage
or
stimulated
microbial
decomposition
organic
matter
limits
accumulation.
Over
six
decades,
nitrogen,
phosphorus,
calcium
were
supplied
Pinus
sylvestris-dominated
forest.
We
found
that
nitrogen
fertilization
alone
together
with
and/or
phosphorus
increased
biomass
production
50%
65%
compared
unfertilized
plots.
However,
nonlinear
relationship
observed
between
stock
across
treatments
suggests
regulation.
When

soil,
fungal
biomass,
