Abstract The correlation between altered extracellular pH and various pathological conditions, including cancer, inflammation metabolic disorders, is well known. Bulk measurements cannot report the value at cell surface. However, there a limited number of suitable tools for measuring cells with high spatial resolution, none them are commonly used in laboratories around world. In this study, versatile ratiometric nanosensor measurement was developed. consists biocompatible polystyrene nanoparticles loaded pH-inert reference dye Nile red surface functionalized pH-responsive fluorescein dye. Equipped targeting moiety, can adhere to membranes, allowing direct exhibits sensitive response within range 5.5–9.0, calculated pKa 7.47. This optimally covers (pH e ) most healthy which abnormal, such as cancer cells. combination nanosensors ability target its robustness, reversibility biocompatibility, proves be suited in-situ pH, even over extended time periods. has potential advance biomedical research by improving our understanding cellular microenvironments, where plays an important role.

Post-antibiotic era requires the use of alternative pesticides against bacterial infections. One potential application field is agriculture, where are routinely applied in combinations. In this study we tested interference antibacterial effects two antimicrobials with basically different mode actions if together vitro by using Enterohemorrhagic E. coli strain Sakai as a modelorganism, one pathotype that frequently associated meat and plant derived TiO2 photocatalytically active nanomaterial, which can generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), exerting destructive on macromolecules, while vb_EcoS_bov25_1D bacteriophage has specific lytic action. Both, bacteriophages were sensitive ROS separately, during PFUs dropped from 5 × 105 to 0 4 h, case CFUs decreased 2 logs magnitude presence 0,05 % 0,025 respectively. sixth minute exposition expressions superoxide dismutases catalases boosted, revealed whole transcriptomic analyses, but elevated levels rclC bshA support some roles these genes under stress situation. Combined phages UV-A exposure have beside inner enzymatic defence mechanisms presenting phage particles served shields spoiled antimicrobial effect (0,0125 %). As consequence, became sacrificed 3-log drop (5 105→5 102) their was revealed. Survived however system remained subsequent dark phase PFU compensated 24 h. Our results show joint agents consequences depending circumstances they used. From side complement each other's exert its or sunlight exposed areas, whereas non-exposed surfaces. On other hand, also spoil others bind generated protect target bacteria, bacteria themselves serve destroying ROS, bacteria.
