ABSTRACT Aims To assess the differences in taxonomical and functional profile of subgingival microbiota isolated from healthy subjects (HS) patients with periodontitis (PP) four different countries. Methods In this study, 80 samples HS PP countries (Belgium, Chile, Peru, Spain) were analyzed using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Results The results indicated significant variation α‐diversity between PP, segregated by country, Peru clearly standing out rest. terms composition, β‐diversity was explained more country origin (6.8%) than diagnosis (4.1%). addition, 75 taxa, 63 which identified at species level, showed significantly relative abundances when comparing origin, diagnosis, both variables combined. Moreover, 85 metabolic pathways commonly associated periodontitis, such as Porphyromonas gingivalis Tannerella forsythia , strongly contributing to reinforcement periodontitis‐associated pathways. On other hand, profiles based on almost nonexistent, suggesting that variability taxonomic does not have a direct impact or profiles. Conclusion These findings suggest microbial analysis should take into account geographic order provide accurate description microbiota. they lay groundwork for larger comprehensive studies might analyze phenomenon future.
