Background: Acinetobacter baumannii has become a significant problem in hospitals worldwide during the last decades. Biofilm formation is virulence factor that may affect antibiotic resistance. This study aimed to elucidate correlation between biofilm and biofilm‐related oxacillinase genes A . clinical isolates. Methods: was conducted on 53 isolates collected from affiliated with Babol University of Medical Sciences (Babol, Iran) April October 2023. Kirby–Bauer disc diffusion used determine antibacterial examined using crystal violet staining. Polymerase chain reaction detect ( b l OXA−23 , OXA−24 OXA−51 OXA−58 ) biofilm‐encoding bap PER−1 specific primers. Results: The strains showed highest resistance trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole ciprofloxacin (98.11%) lowest ampicillin/sulbactam (66.03%). All formed biofilms. Also, 67.92%, 18.86%, 11.32% were strong, moderate, weak producers, respectively. frequencies 92.45%, 71.69%, 100%, 73.58%, 58.49%, None harbored Conclusions: high prevalence antibiotic‐resistant found among There no sample type formation, but notable link antimicrobial except for ciprofloxacin. Extensive use of antibiotics in human healthcare as well agricultural and environmental settings has led to the emergence spread antibiotic-resistant bacteria, rendering many infections increasingly difficult treat. Coupled with limited development new antibiotics, rise antimicrobial resistance (AMR) caused a major health crisis worldwide, which calls for immediate action. Strengthening AMR surveillance systems is, therefore, crucial global national efforts combating this escalating threat. This review explores potential metagenomics, sequenced-based approach analyze entire microbial communities without need cultivation, transformative rapid tool improving strategies compared traditional cultivation-based methods. We emphasize importance monitoring mobile genetic elements (MGEs), such integrons, transposons, plasmids, bacteriophages (phages), relation their critical role facilitating dissemination determinants via horizontal gene transfer (HGT) across diverse environments clinical settings. In context, strengths limitations current bioinformatic tools designed detect AMR-associated MGEs metagenomic datasets, including emerging predictive machine learning models, are evaluated. Moreover, controversial phages transmission is discussed alongside phage therapy promising alternative conventional antibiotic treatment.

SUMMARY Engineered microbes are being programmed using synthetic DNA for applications in soil to overcome global challenges related climate change, energy, food security, and pollution. However, we cannot yet predict gene transfer processes assess the frequency of unintentional engineered environmental when applying biology technologies at scale. This challenge exists because complex heterogeneous characteristics soils, which contribute fitness transport cells exchange genetic material within communities. Here, describe knowledge gaps about across microbiomes. We propose strategies improve our understanding communities, highlight need benchmark performance biocontainment measures situ , discuss responsibly engaging community stakeholders. opportunities address gaps, such as creating a set standards studying diverse types measuring host range microbiomes emerging technologies.
