Background Studies have revealed extensive taxonomic classifications and patterns of gut microbial diversity in snails, with limited focus on community assembly processes. To better understand the balance between stochastic deterministic processes snail their associations fitness, we used freshwater Biomphalaria straminea as a model analyzed bacterial communities from 118 samples via high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA gene. Results This study reveals that Proteobacteria Bacteroidota dominate microbiota B . Snails different laboratory habitats exhibit similar but significantly structures. The both wild is predominantly influenced by rather than processes, evidenced neutral (NCM). Furthermore, during invasion adaptation to new environment, are more crucial ones shaping microbiota. indicates interplay associated host fitness environment.
