Aesthetic experiences, emerging saliently in the arts, play a pivotal role transformative learning and creative processes that elicit physiological, affective, cognitive responses associated with mental health indices. Interactions between subjects aesthetic objects (e.g., visual artwork, music, moving bodies) often entail elements of surprise uncertainty drive inference hidden causes subject’s internal external environment. These generate dynamics align action-oriented Predictive Processing framework brain function. Creative Arts Therapies (CATs) harness these by cultivating relational engagement using arts modalities, prompting affective processing. In this manuscript, we offer review conceptual analysis recent empirical findings theoretical premises underpin experiences their relation to psychotherapeutic use broad spectrum populations conditions. We present neuroscience-based approach intra- inter-personal integrating therapeutic change factors externalization-concretization, embodiment, symbolization functional network configurations, interpersonal brain-to-brain coupling, support predictive processing, learning, creativity. Present future interdisciplinary collaborations are underlined elucidate neurodynamic mechanisms driving psychological transformations, bridging neuroaesthetics CATs.

Continuous wave-diffuse optical tomography (CW-DOT) has emerged as a promising non-invasive neuroimaging technique for assessing brain function. Its ability to provide mapping with high spatial resolution over traditional functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) garnered significant interest in clinical and cognitive neuroscience. In this review, we critically summarized the hardware, reconstruction algorithms, applications of CW-DOT human mapping, providing an up-to-date overview guidelines future studies conduct studies. ScienceDirect, PubMed, Web Science, IEEE Xplore databases were searched from their inception up 1 July 2024. A total 83 articles included final systematic review. The review focused on existing hardware systems, algorithms CW-DOT, both settings Finally, highlighted current challenges potential directions research, including absence standardized protocols pressing need enhanced quantitative precision. This underscores sophisticated capabilities particularly realm imaging. Extensive neuroscience research attested technique's anatomical precision reliability, establishing it potent instrument practice.

SignificanceFunctional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) has been widely used to assess brain functional networks due its superior ecological validity. Generally, fNIRS signals are sensitive motion artifacts (MA), which can be removed by various MA correction algorithms. Yet, may also undergo varying degrees of distortion correction, leading notable alternation in connectivity (FC) analysis results.AimWe aimed investigate the effect different algorithms on performance FC and topology analyses.ApproachWe evaluated simulated experimental datasets, including principal component analysis, spline interpolation, correlation-based signal improvement, Kalman filtering, wavelet temporal derivative distribution repair (TDDR). The mean each pre-defined network, receiver operating characteristic (ROC), graph theory metrics were investigated algorithms.ResultsAlthough most did not differ significantly from other, TDDR filtering turned out effective methods for topological as evidenced their denoising ability, best ROC, an enhanced ability recover original pattern.ConclusionsThe findings our study elucidate impact could serve a reference choosing appropriate method future research. As guidance, we recommend using or minimize network analysis.
