Ceramide C16 is a sphingolipid detected at high levels in several neurodegenerative disorders, including multiple sclerosis (MS). It can be generated de novo or from the hydrolysis of other sphingolipids, such as sphingomyelin through recycling sphingosine, what known salvage pathway. Currently available data suggest that the union of a balanced diet and an overall healthy lifestyle may determine amelioration in several clinical parameters quality life for patients with MS (pwMS). Inflammatory status is one of the main drivers in development non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Specific unhealthy dietary patterns and growing consumption ultra-processed foods (UPFs) may influence inflammation process, which negatively modulates gut microbiota increases risk NCDs. Moreover, several chronic health conditions require special long-term treatment, characterized by altered ratios intake nutrients or disease-specific foods. In this narrative review, we aimed to collect latest evidence on pro-inflammatory potential patterns, foods, children affected multifactorial but also dietetic approaches used as treatment for specific diseases. Considering diet-related diseases, triggering effect diets has been addressed metabolic syndrome inflammatory bowel latter adults only. Future research required multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, pediatric cancer, role emerging.
