Despite advances in dementia research, little is known about the subjective everyday experiences of people living with dementia. The experience sampling method (ESM), which involves repeated, real-time self-reports, has proven valuable for studying psychological across various clinical populations. However, its feasibility and utility remain underexplored. This article explores methodology, feasibility, a smartphone-based ESM study, developed input from stakeholders lived Over 10-day period, 12 participants responded to seven daily notifications assessing their current thoughts affect, they completed an end-of-day questionnaire on life satisfaction meaning life. Feasibility was evaluated based participation compliance rates, drop-out, completion times, study (e.g., burden, motivation). Data assessed by examining between-person within-person variance intraclass correlation coefficients repeated measurements. The achieved high (80%) no dropouts. Participants reported low burden positive experiences. analysis showed considerable variability both within between individuals momentary measures, underscoring potential capture dynamic, dementia. Our demonstrates that high-intensity can be successfully implemented targeted subgroups dementia, providing feasible examine These findings encourage future research refine methodologies populations, aiming include larger more diverse samples while exploring different designs. Doing so may uncover new opportunities better understand develop tailored interventions support wellbeing.
