Introduction Understanding how the brain processes color information from both left and right eyes is a significant topic in neuroscience. Binocular fusion rivalry, which involve advanced cognitive functions prefrontal cortex (PFC), provide unique perspective for exploring activity. Methods This study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to examine PFC activity during binocular rivalry conditions. The included two fNIRS experiments: Experiment 1 employed long-duration (90 s) stimulation assess connectivity, while 2 short-duration (10 repeated (eight trials), analyzed with generalized linear model evaluate activation levels. Statistical tests were then conducted compare differences connectivity strength Results results indicated that was significantly higher condition than condition, stronger Mid-Gray field condition. Additionally, levels greater, concentrated channel (CH) 12, CH13, CH14. CH12 located dorsolateral cortex, CH13 CH14 are frontal eye fields, areas associated visual attention. Discussion These findings suggest requires integration Overall, this demonstrates more cognitively challenging engaging attention executive functions. theoretical support development of color-based brain-computer interfaces offer new insights into future research on brain's color-visual processing mechanisms.
