it has been just over three years since SARS-CoV-2 viral infection was first known as causing severe acute and highly transmissible respiratory syndrome coronavirus. During one of the worst global pandemics last century, caused by COVID-19 disease, under persistent immune pressure exerted newest vaccines, virus is fastly mutating becoming less severe, but more contagious. On other hand, some studies [1,2,3] indicate that elderly patients or those who have reported a virulent episode this infection, experience long-lasting neurological complications, including encephalopathy, encephalitis, cerebrovascular Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s (AD) prion (PrD). So, there are several recent reports [4,5] developing PrD following but, to best our knowledge, case in Italy on an association PRNP E200K somatic mutation with gCJD. The rising prevalence neurodegenerative complications adds urgency study potential relationship.

Understanding the pathogenesis and mechanisms of prion diseases can significantly expand our knowledge in field neurodegenerative diseases. Prion biology is increasingly recognized as being relevant to pathophysiology Alzheimer's disease Parkinson's disease, both which affect millions people each year. This bioinformatics study used a theoretical protein-RNA recognition code (1-L transcription) reveal post-transcriptional regulation protein (PrPC). The principle for this method directly elucidated on PrPC, an octa-repeat be 1-L transcribed into GGA triplet repeat RNA aptamer known reduce misfolding normal PrPC abnormal PrPSc. identified genes/proteins are associated with mitochondria, cancer, COVID-19 ER-stress, approximately half or indirectly For example, supports CD44, regions brain astrocytic accumulation also display high levels CD44.
