Background Insomnia disorder (ID) is increasingly prevalent, posing significant risks to patients’ physical and mental health. However, its neuropathological mechanisms remain unclear. Despite extensive research on ID using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging, a unified framework for describing brain function alterations remains absent. Moreover, most prior studies have not fully accounted the potential impact of medication outcomes regarding enrollment criteria. Methods We recruited 22 healthy controls (HC), matched age gender. Patients with were never prescribed medications sleep disorders before enrollment. detected differences in voxel-wise degree centrality (DC) between two groups analyzed correlation altered DC values insomnia severity. Additionally, we conducted receiver operating characteristic analysis evaluate diagnostic effectiveness ID. Results In patients, weighted left dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus (SFG) supramarginal (SMG) significantly lower than those HC, notable negative SFG PSQI scores. Receiver showed that effectively differentiates exhibiting high sensitivity specificity. Conclusion This study offers new insights into dysfunction pathophysiology through voxel-based measurements. The results indicate properties might serve as marker therapeutic target modulation.
