Abstract Children born preterm have an increased likelihood of developing neurobehavioral disorders such as attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and anxiety. These a sex bias, with males having higher incidence ADHD, whereas anxiety tends to be more prevalent in females. Both are underpinned by imbalances key neurotransmitter systems, dopamine noradrenaline particular major roles attention regulation stress modulation. Preterm birth disturbances neurodevelopment may affect this neurotransmission sexually dimorphic manner. Time‐mated guinea pig dams were allocated deliver induction labor (gestational age 62 [GA62]) or spontaneously at term (GA69). The resultant offspring randomized endpoints neonates (24 h after term‐equivalence age) juveniles (corrected postnatal day 40, childhood equivalence). Relative mRNA expressions pathway genes examined the frontal cortex hippocampus quantified real‐time PCR. Myelin basic protein neuronal nuclei immunostaining performed characterize impact birth. Within cortex, there persisting reductions expression dopaminergic components that occurred only. Conversely, preterm‐born females had noradrenergic receptors reduction transporter within hippocampus. This study demonstrated results changes receptor, transporter, synthesis enzyme gene sex‐ region‐based manner contribute differences susceptibility disorders. findings highlight need for development sex‐based treatments improving these conditions.

In general, traditional antidepressants often have limited efficacy in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Agomelatine, as an antidepressant a different mechanism of action, might adjunctive effects on antidepressants. This study aimed to investigate the augmentation effect agomelatine versus placebo treating MDD who failed respond selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin-noradrenaline (SNRIs). is 8-week, multi-centred, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Participants diagnosed demonstrated inadequate response SSRI or SNRI lasting at least 2 weeks were randomly allocated receive either conjunction SSRIs SNRIs. The 17 items Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-17) employed assess depression severity. primary outcome total score HAMD-17 week 8. Secondary outcomes included scores 4 clinical remission over 8 weeks. Adverse events (AEs) reported both groups recorded. A linear mixed model was established for secondary outcomes. 123 eligible participants included, among which 60 randomized into group, 63 group. between-group difference reduction from baseline not significant (difference = - 0.12, 95% CI 3.94 3.70, P 0.90; Cohen's d 0.022). addition, we did observe differences between two treatment outcomes, including remission, AEs. obtain findings favour agomelation patients. However, generally well tolerated favourable safety profile when used combination trial registered ClinicalTrials.gov ( https://clinicaltrials.gov ), registration number NCT04589143.

Assessment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) usually focuses on nerve damage resulting from hyperglycaemia. However, screening for common psychiatric disorders may improve the recognition psychopathology in patients with DPN. This epidemiological cohort study aimed to evaluate prevalence panic attack symptoms DPN compared toa control group healthy individuals without type 2 diabetes mellitusorDPN.Additionally, this sought compare severity these between two groups. The was conducted via a survey over three years an accredited practice physicians at Medical University-Sofia. A total of267 participants were included, comprising 83 and 184healthy controls. Both groups completed Prime-MD Patient Health Questionnaire. The results indicated significant differences groups(t[127.513] = 3.293; p < 0.01), had higher than those group.Furthermore, observed within (t[(81] 2.017, 0.05).Patients who experienced more one year reported severe it less oneyear. Our indicate that high inpatients highlights need integrated overall management plan mellitus.

Abstract Background Uric acid has antioxidant properties, and several studies have suggested its neuroprotective effects. Despite reports of increased oxidative damage decreased antioxidants in anxiety disorders, findings remain inconclusive. This study investigated the association between serum uric levels symptoms, stratified by sex, using nationwide data from South Korea. Methods Data were derived Korea National Health Nutrition Examination Survey, which included 2,228 males 2,805 females. Presence symptoms was defined as a Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7) score ≥ 10. Study participants categorized into three groups based on levels: 1 (lowest) to 3 (highest). Multivariable logistic regression analyzed sex. Results Compared reference group 2, females had (odds ratio (OR) 2.28, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.48–3.49). When GAD-7 5, (OR 1.68, CI 1.30–2.16) 1.35, 1.04–1.74) both showed more than with U-shaped relationship symptoms. In males, weren't significantly linked Conclusions indicates that low are associated higher prevalence only females, suggesting involvement stress disorders sex-based variation.
