ABSTRACT Red raspberries are among the most significant wild edible fruits (WEFs) in Türkiye, thriving cold to warm temperate regions across country. This study focuses on 11 red raspberry ecotypes sampled from Northern Anatolia region, examining their sensory, biochemical and antioxidant properties. Sensory analysis was used compare based aroma, taste juiciness. Biochemical assessments included soluble solid content (SSC), vitamin C amount, organic acids, total anthocyanins (TA), phenolic (TPC), flavonoid capacity. The Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) assay measured Despite similar growing conditions, variations were observed years. In first year, fruit weights ranged 1.04 g 1.33 g, second they 0.97 1.27 g. Fruit chroma values between 26.11 33.70 2021, 23.17 30.19 2022. Vitamin exhibited considerable variability, ranging 29.3 mg · 100 −1 44.4 TPC, anthocyanin (TAC) 164 390 gallic acid equivalent (GAE) , 17.3 33.2 cyanidin-3-glucoside 10.3 17.6 quercetin (QE) respectively, both Citric emerged as dominant all ecotypes. Notably, V-4, V-8, V-3 V-10 showcased larger, more appealing suitable for fresh consumption, whereas V-5 presented sweeter ideal processing. Additionally, V-6, V-7 V-11 displayed higher levels of health-promoting compounds, such TPC capacity, suggesting potential functional foods valuable sources natural antioxidants future.

The lesser-known yet incredibly nourishing wild edible fruit Elaeagnus pyriformis Hook.f. is found in the north-eastern mountainous states of India. fruits were collected from three villages Champhai District, Mizoram, with goal analysing their physio-chemical and phytochemical qualities order to determine its potential for domestication. Measurements made fruit's physical characteristics, including length, diameter, weight, moisture content. Juice was extracted, total soluble solids (TSS), titrable acidity, ascorbic acid, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar:acid ratio among chemical parameters that examined afterward. existence several beneficial substances determined by screening. Physical differences between samples various be significantly varied, according results. The diversity of India's flora is a vital component its rich cultural and ecological tapestry, with the state Karnataka hosting an exceptional variety wild edible fruits. These fruits, beyond their basic nutritional value, play significant role in local diet healthcare reflecting deep reservoir traditional knowledge. In current study, we investigated 25 distinct species fruits within forested regions Sirsi Shikaripur, Karnataka, aiming to uncover document presence ethno botanical usage. findings indicate that percentage occurrence these varies significantly, highlighting potential reliance on fruit across surveyed. our investigation, observed Myrtaceae exhibited highest occurrence, representing 33.33% total documented. This was closely followed by belonging Phyllanthaceae family (26.66%). By mapping uses research offers insights into for enriching diets, promoting health, fostering sustainable integration wisdom modern science management natural resources. work not only contributes field botany conservation biology but also advocates recognition preservation Karnataka's biodiversity heritage future generations.

Elaeagnus latifolia (EL) is a wild fruit known for containing several health-promoting compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of EL extract on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated macrophages. Mice fed an HFD given 10 weeks exhibited significantly lower body weight, reduced lipid accumulation, diminished oxidative stress in adipocytes, decreased macrophage infiltration compared those not receiving extract. Moreover, activated transcription factors Pparg Cebpa, initiating adipogenesis modulating expression NF-κB/Nrf-2-induced target genes. resulted smaller adipocyte size, inflammation, less HFD-fed mice. In vitro, induced shift phenotype from M1 M2, IκBα/NF-κB phosphorylation, effectively energy production macrophages by downregulating proteins involved glycolysis tricarboxylic acid cycle. mechanistic suggests that administering could be effective strategy managing its associated pathologies.
