Chios mastiha is the natural aromatic resin of Pistacia lentiscus L. var. Chia, Anacardiaceae, which exclusively cultivated in southern part Greek island Chios. (P. lenticonus/Chios mastiha) well-known for its distinctive taste and aroma has been known since ancient times due to healing properties gastrointestinal inflammatory disorders because anti-bacterial anti-fungal activities. In this study, chemical composition, applying LC-QTOF-MS/MS analysis, antioxidant activities three different polarity P. fractions, apolar, medium polar, were characterized human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Chemical analysis fractions unveiled new components mastiha, mainly fatty acids compounds, their activity regulatory effects on lipid metabolism. By MTT assay confocal microscopy we showed that especially apolar polar enriched triterpenes acids, caused suppression H2O2-induced reduction cell viability, ROS production, depolarization mitochondrial membrane potential, Moreover, Western blot revealed fraction, induced expression PPARα, crucial role Induction a GR target gene, was also accompanied by an increase protein levels. Enhanced fraction may be correlated with triterpenoids. Thus, our results indicate neuroprotective actions highlighting potential application as agents neurodegenerative diseases.

Resveratrol (RSV), a polyphenol with anti-aging properties affecting metabolism and energy balance, is considered as mimetic candidate to calorie restriction (CR). However its potential effects on delaying the onset of age-related diseases increasing longevity have not yet been demonstrated in non-obese models close humans such non-human primates. The longitudinal monitoring cognitive motor performances, occurrence pathologies, brain atrophy mortality was performed from adulthood death cohort male grey mouse lemurs (Microcebus murinus, N = 33), all receiving 105 kJ/day food but subset 18 animals RSV (200 mg.kg-1 body weight.day-1). supplementation improved performance at middle age compared control (CTL) animals. Median-lifespan greater RSV-fed (7.9 years 6.4 for CTL) long-term did significantly affect all-cause nor mortality. Also, matter accelerated group old CTL group. Altogether, these results suggest that procures health benefits middle-age has limited might even impair integrity older ages. Long-term resveratrol primate does mimic positive lifespan

In skeletal muscle, calcium is not only essential to stimulate and sustain their contractions but also for muscle embryogenesis, regeneration, energy production in mitochondria, fusion. Different ion channels contribute achieving the various functions of muscles. Muscle contraction initiated by releasing from sarcoplasmic reticulum through ryanodine receptor gated mechanically four dihydropyridine receptors T-tubules. The influx store-operated sustains stimulates regeneration. Mitochondrial uniporter allows entry into mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation. Aging alters expression activity these different channels, resulting a reduction force generation regeneration capacity. Regular physical training bioactive molecules nutrients can prevent effects aging on channels. This review focuses current knowledge muscles’

Phenolic compounds, with their diverse biological activities, are widely explored as cosmetic ingredients photoprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hyperpigmentation properties, offering a multitargeted approach to combat photo-induced skin aging. The study analyzed 1299 products from 2021 2024 understand the market impact of phenolic compounds mechanism action against damage. A total 28 active were identified prevalence phenolics was 13.2% in anti-aging products, 5.2% sunscreens 4.8% aftersun products. Bakuchiol polyphenols, such resveratrol, chrysin, hesperidin methyl chalcone, found Sunscreens counted ferulic caffeic acids, salicylic acid, respectively. Antioxidant activity be primary by scavenging reactive species, thus mitigating oxidative stress. Ferulic glucosylrutin can also absorb UV radiation, acting preventively solar-induced This provides insights into limited use commercial cosmetics, despite suggests potential barriers wider sun care
