Wearable inertial sensor technology affords opportunities to record the physical activity of young children in their natural environments. The interpretation these data, however, requires validation. purpose this study was develop and establish criterion validity a method quantifying active sedentary using an for pre-ambulatory with cerebral palsy. Ten participants were video recorded during 30 min therapy sessions that encouraged gross motor play activities, recording behaviorally coded identify time. A receiver operating characteristic curve identified optimal threshold maximize true positive minimize false time eight development dataset. 0.417 m/s2 then validated remaining two participants; percent positives negatives 92.2 89.7%, respectively. We conclude there is potential raw data be used quantify disability, acceleration may more generalizable than sensor-specific counts commonly reported literature.
