The aim this study is further investigate role specifically treatment elderly patients. Methods: This enrolled 1,102 who were with variant. Of these, 291 received conjunction conventional Western medicine assigned group, while 811 only control group. Clinical parameters including hospitalization duration, viral shedding time, and Cycle Threshold (Ct) values novel coronavirus nucleic acid tests, as well adverse events recorded analyzed both groups. Results: There was no significant difference baseline characteristics between two In comparison group a substantial duration (median: 8 days vs. 10 days, HR: 0.638, 95% CI: 0.558-0.731, p < 0.001). also showed significantly shorter time compared 7 0.754, 0.659-0.863, Multivariate Cox proportional-hazards model analysis indicated that use closely associated reduction (HR: 1.562, 1.364-1.789, 0.001) 1.335, 1.166-1.528, addition, process, serious event occurred either Conclusion: improvement clinical indicate promising therapeutic benefit for present study. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has spread worldwide and become a major global public health concern. Although novel investigational COVID-19 antiviral candidates such as the Pfizer agent PAXLOVID™, molnupiravir, baricitinib, remdesivir, favipiravir are currently used to treat patients with COVID-19, there is still critical need for development of additional treatments, recommended therapeutic options frequently ineffective against SARS-CoV-2. The efficacy safety vaccines remain uncertain, particularly emergence several variants. Chinese guideline has proven effective in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during global spread of epidemic. Traditional medicine (TCM) is widely recognized for its effectiveness alleviating symptoms, inhibiting progress, reducing mortality, and improving cure rate patients with COVID-19. During pandemic, “three medicines three formulas” (TMTFs) stood out from hundreds others registered clinical studies, which became highly recommended as TCM COVID-19 treatment. The TMTFs not only effectively relieve symptoms fever, cough, fatigue, phlegm, but also substantially shorten time nucleic acid negative conversion, improve lung computed tomography imaging features inflammation, ameliorate biochemical indicators, reduce sequelae. Their potential pharmacological mechanisms are mainly related to crosstalk between viral toxicity, endothelial damage, cytokine storm, immune response, microthrombus. In brief, effects on were systematically analyzed summarized covering entirety development, including virus invasion replication, response acute respiratory distress syndrome multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. This review provides a theoretical basis reference in-depth understanding positive role

ABSTRACTBackground Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) poses a serious threat to human health. In China, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), mainly based on the Maxing Shigan decoction (MXSGD), is used in conjunction with western treat COVID-19.Research design and methods We conducted network meta-analysis investigate whether MXSGD-related TCM combined more effective treating COVID-19 compared alone. Additionally, using pharmacology, cross-docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation explore potential active compounds possible targets underlying therapeutic effects of TCM.Results was better for Network pharmacological analysis identified 43 shared ingredients prescriptions 599 common target genes. Cross-docking 154 proteins that matched these genes led identification 60 proteins. Pathway profiling revealed participated multiple signaling pathways contribute their efficacy. Molecular docking MD demonstrated MOL007214, most promising molecule, could stably bind site SARS-CoV-2 3CLpro.Conclusion This study demonstrates important role treatment COVID-19.KEYWORDS: Meta-analysismaxing shigan decoctionCOVID-19network pharmacologymolecular Declaration interestThe authors have no relevant affiliations or financial involvement any organization entity interest conflict subject matter materials discussed manuscript. includes employment, consultancies, honoraria, stock ownership options, expert testimony, grants patents received pending, royalties.Reviewer disclosuresPeer reviewers this manuscript other relationships disclose.Committee approval statementI confirm has from ethics committee at institution practice which stated If formal not granted reason should be explained manuscript.Supplementary materialSupplemental data article can accessed online https://doi.org/10.1080/14787210.2023.2238899Additional informationFundingSupport paper provided by Fujian Province Science Technology Project (2020Y0013), Ministry People's Republic National Natural Foundation China (82141215, 82173779, U1903119) Xiamen Municipal Bureau Planning (3502Z2021YJ11).
