Abstract Microalgae and cyanobacteria (blue‐green algae) are used as food by humans. They have gained a lot of attention in recent years because their potential applications biotechnology. good sources many valuable compounds, including important biologically active compounds with antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer activities. Under optimal growth condition stress factors, algal biomass produce varieties bioactive compounds. In the current review, production remarkable such pharmaceutical nutraceutical along processes involved identification characterization novel discussed. Comprehensive knowledge about exploration, extraction, screening, trading products from microalgae other will open up new avenues for drug discovery bioprospecting.

Abstract Macroalgae species are fast growing and their polysaccharides already used as food ingredient due to properties hydrocolloids or they have potential high value bioactivity. The degradation of these valuable access the sugar components has remained mostly unexplored so far. One reason is structural complexity algal polysaccharides, but also need for suitable enzyme cocktails obtain oligo‐ monosaccharides. Among them, there several rare sugars with value. Recently, considerable progress was made in discovery highly specific carbohydrate‐active enzymes able decompose complex marine carbohydrates such carrageenan, laminarin, agar, porphyran ulvan. This minireview summarizes achievements highlights applications now accessible abundant renewable resource polysaccharides.

A key interlinking factor of many global issues is the accumulated negative effects pollution and poor resource/land management our remaining natural resources. Emerging applications microalgal biotechnology demonstrate potential for microalgae to solve some these challenges by reducing aquatic pollutants, as well providing a source sustainably produced feedstock product development. This review describes how can assist in achievement number United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, including Zero Hunger, Clean Water Sanitation, Affordable Energy, Responsible Consumption Production, Life Below on Land.
