Artemisinin is a secondary metabolite well-known for its use in the treatment of malaria. It also displays other antimicrobial activities which further increase interest. At present, Artemisia annua sole commercial source substance, and production limited, leading to global deficit supply. Furthermore, cultivation A. being threatened by climate change. Specifically, drought stress major concern plant development productivity, but, on hand, moderate levels can elicit metabolites, with putative synergistic interaction elicitors such as chitosan oligosaccharides (COS). Therefore, strategies yield has prompted much With this aim, effects artemisinin under COS, well physiological changes plants are presented study.Plants were separated into two groups, well-watered (WW) drought-stressed (DS) plants, each group, four concentrations COS applied (0, 50,100 200 mg•L-1). Afterwards, water was imposed withholding irrigation 9 days. Therefore, when watered, did not improve growth, upregulation antioxidant enzymes hindered artemisinin. On during stress, alleviate decline growth at any concentration tested. However, higher doses improved status since leaf potential (YL) 50.64% relative content (RWC) 33.84% compared DS without treatment. Moreover, combination caused damage plant's enzyme defence, particularly APX GR, reduced amount phenols flavonoids. This resulted increased ROS enhanced 34.40% treated mg•L-1 control plants. These findings underscore critical role biosynthesis suggest that may boost crop production, even conditions.

Sulfate is taken up from the soil solution by root system; and inside plant, it assimilated to hydrogen sulfide, which in turn converted cysteine. also leaves, when foliage sprayed with solutions containing sulfate fertilizers. Moreover, several other sulfur (S)-containing compounds are provided through foliar application, including S metabolites glutathione, cysteine, methionine, S-methylmethionine, lipoic acid. However, that not metabolites, such as thiourea lignosulfonates, along dimethyl sulfoxide S-containing adjuvants, application-these agrochemicals. In this review, we elaborate on fate of these after spraying rationale efficiency applications. The application S-compounds various combinations an emerging area agricultural usefulness. practice, applied alone spray need for proper prime importance.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most consumed leafy green vegetables in world, and a good source important bioactive compounds. However, environmental stress factors, such as salinity or drought, cause physiological biochemical changes plants influence yields levels both primary secondary metabolites, which drastically nutritional value quality crop. In present work, six typical Czech cultivars/landraces various lettuce morphotypes (Altenbursky, Dubacek, Kamenac, Jupiter, Prazan, Robin) were grown under driven conditions then analyzed for content sugars, fatty acids, amino phenolics, vitamins. Obtained data subjected to compositional tables statistical analysis, provided not only information on general trends their but also how these affected each particular variety. Overall, drought caused largest relative increase phenolic compounds some acids. Conversely, overall decrease vitamin C, addition, salt larger many especially acid arginine, while acids slightly increased, together with E. interpretation from analysis showed that varieties Prazan Altenbursky had least chemical composition when stress. Again, var. variability comparison other These findings confirm fact landraces old cultivars do change profiles significantly, case improved cultivars, they emphasize need cultivation raising productivity staple food crops.
