Abstract Phosphorus (P) deficiency alters the root morphological and physiological traits of plants. This study investigates how soybean cultivars with varying low‐P tolerance values respond to different P levels in hydroponic culture by assessing alterations length, acid phosphatase activity, organic exudation, metabolites exudates. Three low‐P‐tolerant (‘Maetsue,’ ‘Kurotome,’ ‘Fukuyutaka’) three low‐P‐sensitive (‘Ihhon,’ ‘Chizuka,’ ‘Komuta’) were grown under 0 (P0) 258 μM (P8) for 7 14 days after transplantation (DAT). Low‐P‐tolerant increased length 31% 119%, which was lower than 62% 144% increases sensitive P0 compared P8 at DAT, respectively. Acid activity exceeded that 5.2‐fold 2.0‐fold DAT. Root exudates from each cultivar revealed 177 metabolites, higher exudation P0. concentrations specific (oxalate, GABA, quinate, citrate, AMP, 4‐pyridoxate, CMP), distinguishing them The top five metabolomic pathways (purine metabolism, arginine proline TCA cycle, glyoxylate dicarboxylate alanine, aspartate, glutamate metabolism) more pronounced These findings indicate increasing not an adaptation strategy deficiency; instead, tolerant exhibit enhanced traits, including metabolite release, accelerated metabolic deficiency.
