Vernicia montana and V. fordii are economically important woody oil species in the Euphorbiaceae that have great industrial ornamental greening properties, however, wild resources of trees been reduced because their habitat destruction. Considering diverse economic ecological importance species, it is to collect more molecular data determine genetic differences between fordii. We sequenced, assembled, annotated complete chloroplast (CP) genome two tung based on skimming approach. The whole CP genomes were 163,518 bp 161,495 length, both including a pair inverted repeats separated by large single-copy small region. detected total number 311 tandem repeats, 100 dispersed 255 simple from genomes. mean value nucleotide diversity was 0.0122, average Ka/Ks ratio across all coding genes 0.3483. Comparative analysis showed regions conserved than non-coding regions. phylogenetic relationships yielded sequences closely related considered as sister group. annotated, analyzed trees, which will be useful investigating conservation genetics potential breeding applications this shrub.

Abstract Background Justicia is the largest genus in Acanthaceae and widely distributed Asia, Africa, Australia South America. Previous phylogenetic studies have proposed a general framework for based on several molecular markers. However, their mainly focused resolution of issues America due to limited sampling from Asia. Additionally, although plants are high medical ornamental values, little research its genetics was reported. Therefore, improve understanding genomic structure relationships among Asian plants, we sequenced complete chloroplast (cp) genomes twelve combined with previously published cp genome J. leptostachya further comparative genomics analyses. Results All exhibit typical quadripartite without rearrangement gene loss. Their sizes range 148,374 151,739 bp, including large single copy (LSC, 81,434–83,676 bp), small (SSC, 16,833–17,507 bp) two inverted repeats (IR, 24,947–25,549 bp). GC contents 38.1–38.4%. plastomes contain 114 genes, containing 80 protein-coding 30 tRNAs 4 rRNAs. IR variation repetitive sequences analyses both indicated that grossa different other species because lengths ndhF ycf1 IRs shorter than others it richest SSRs dispersed repeats. The identified as candidate DNA barcode phylogeny. Our results showed polyphyletic group, which consistent previous studies. Among them, belongs subtribe Tetramerinae tribe Justicieae while members belong Justiciinae. morphological evidence, should be undoubtedly recognized new genus. Interestingly, evolutionary history discovered congruent morphology evolution inflorescence position terminal axillary spikes gradually shorten into cymes. Conclusion study not only elucidates basic features whole plastomes, but also first sheds light interspecific plants.
