ABSTRACT Legumes have the beneficial capacity to establish symbiotic interactions with rhizobia, which provide their host plants fixed nitrogen. However, in presence of nitrogen, this process is rapidly repressed avoid unnecessary investments carbon symbiosis. Several players involved regulating nodulation response nitrate availability been identified, including peptide hormones, microRNAs and transcription factors. Nevertheless, how these molecular are linked each other what underlying mechanisms at play inhibit remain unresolved. Nitrate‐mediated control seems differ between model legumes, such as Medicago Lotus , compared legume crops soybean. A deeper understanding regulatory processes, particularly soybean, expected contribute establishing increased efficiency modern agricultural systems, hence improving sustainability by reducing need for environmentally hazardous nitrogen fertilizers. This review describes state art nitrate‐regulated while drawing parallels described legumes addressing knowledge gaps that require future study.

Cell-cell communication is essential for both unicellular and multicellular organisms. Secreted peptides that act as diffusive ligands are utilized by eukaryotic organisms to transduce information between cells coordinate developmental physiological processes. In plants, The CLAVATA3/EMBRYO SURROUNDING REGION-RELATED ( CLE ) genes encode a family of secreted small which play pivotal roles in stem cell homeostasis various types meristems. Accumulated evidence has revealed mediate trans-kingdom interactions plants microbes, including pathogens symbionts. This review highlights the emerging peptide signaling plant-microbe interactions, focusing on their involvement nodulation, immunity, symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Understanding these provides insights into sophisticated regulatory networks balance plant growth defense, enhancing our knowledge biology potential agricultural applications.

Abstract The advent of genome editing technologies, particularly CRISPR/Cas9, has significantly advanced the generation legume mutants for reverse genetic studies and understanding mechanics rhizobial symbiosis. legume–rhizobia symbiosis is crucial sustainable agriculture, enhancing nitrogen fixation improving soil fertility. Numerous genes with a symbiosis-specific expression have been identified, sometimes exclusively expressed in cells forming infection threads or nitrogen-fixing nodule cells. Typically, mutations these do not affect plant growth. However, some instances, germline homozygous can be lethal result complex pleiotropic phenotypes that are challenging to interpret. To address this issue, rhizobia-inducible cell-type-specific CRISPR/Cas9 strategy was developed knock-out specific transgenic root tissues. In review, we discuss recent advancements editing, highlighting CRISPR system its applications symbiotic beyond.

Nitrogen availability profoundly impacts crop productivity, especially for soybeans, which exhibit a substantial demand nitrogen. In response to the over-reliance on nitrogen fertilizers, poses both inefficiencies and environmental concerns, potential of melatonin in enhancing uptake utilization soybeans through root irrigation was investigated. Melatonin significantly increased activity ammonium assimilating enzymes, thereby plant tolerance low levels, particularly at concentration 10 μM. This phenomenon has been conclusively linked augmented fixation capacity, attributed facilitating rhizobial infection.
