Heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic are environmental pollutants that accumulate in ecosystems pose significant health risks to humans wildlife, primarily through food chain contamination where plants absorb heavy metals, affecting their growth threatening consumer health. Cognitive cardiovascular functions particularly affected by exposure even at low concentrations the induction of oxidative stress. Various analytical techniques used measuring different biological samples. The atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) offers cost, simplicity, portability but lacks sensitivity for certain metals. Although more sensitive, high cost inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) may limit laboratory accessibility. with emission (ICP-AES) is known its broad dynamic linear range ability identify minute variations concentration. Atomic fluorescence (AFS) considered a powerful tool quantifying due sensitivity, detection limits, wide range. current article reviews metal pollution's impact on spectrometric these contaminants. This help efforts international, regional policies towards preventing this hazard problem.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is the world's third most popular vegetable in terms of consumption and fourth produced. Potatoes can be easily cultivated different climates locations around globe often soils contaminated by heavy metals due to industrial activities. This study assessed metal accumulation organs three S. L. varieties (Agria, Désirée, Red Lady) grown substrate formulations containing slag waste from Caveira polymetallic sulfite mine Portugal. Results reveal that Cu, Pb, As plant depends on variety formulation, with tubers exceeding reference values literature. Tubers accumulated less Cu (varying between 17.3 32 mg/kg), Pb 5 27.6 mg/kg) 4 14.8 compared other organs, Désirée exhibited high (with a maximum remaining varieties. Although phenological development plants was not impacted, formulation played critical role plant's uptake. The Agria presented lower contamination risk tubers, but potato cultivation present human health.

Food safety is a significant issue of global concern. Consumer and government regulations drive the need for accurate analysis food contaminants, residues other chemical constituents Traditional methods detection contaminants often present challenges, including lengthy processing times matrix interference; they require expensive equipment, skilled personnel or have limitations in sensitivity specificity. Developing novel analytical that are sensitive, specific, rapid therefore crucial ensuring protection consumers. The immuno-polymerase chain reaction (IPCR) method offers promising solution by combining specificity conventional immunological with exponential PCR amplification. This review evaluates current state IPCR methods, describes variety existing formats explores their application pathogenic bacteria toxins, viruses, mycotoxins, allergens, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, phthalic acid esters, pesticides, antibiotics contaminants. Depending on type analyte, either sandwich competitive format predominantly used. also examines potential advancements future implementation field safety.
