Infrastructure is the backbone of development a region. However, infrastructure must also be designed with sustainability in mind including toll road construction. This study investigates societal dynamics and impacts roads Indonesia from 2019 to 2023. Through literature review 92 relevant articles obtained scientific journals, books, reports using keywords “toll” “community,” trends perceptions regarding were analyzed. The evaluative descriptive method, guided by Neuman was employed assess rationally. Findings reveal declining growth rate (−5.43%) related tolls society, averaging 18 per year. Economic social aspects most discussed, followed legal environmental considerations. Regionally, roads' varied: positive economic effects noted urban gate adjacent areas, while negative observed rural regions reliant on passing vehicle trade agriculture. Socially, industrial zones, dense population centers, potential tourism spots benefited, but issues like land scarcity disparities widened. Environmental risks included damage sensitive ecosystems, water sources, air quality, agricultural land, particularly disaster-prone regions. emphasizes need for comprehensive planning mitigation strategies address multifaceted economy, environment. By understanding these dynamics, policymakers planners can develop sustainable solutions that benefit all stakeholders. research contributes valuable insights transportation management Indonesia, aiding making informed decisions.
