Optimization of Light Quality for Plant Factory Production of Brassica campestris (Pakchoi)

Light
is
a
key
factor
influencing
the
growth
and
quality
of
crops
in
plant
factories.
To
explore
optimal
light
for
pakchoi
production,
five
formulations
were
applied
to
‘Youguan
NO.3’
pakchoi:
white
LEDs
(W;
CK);
white/red
=
4:1
(WR);
white/blue
(WB);
white/red/blue
3:1:1
(WRB);
white/green
(WG),
all
with
intensity
250
±
10
µmol·m−2·s−1.
The
results
showed
significant
variations
indices,
nutritional
quality,
enzyme
activity,
other
parameters
under
different
qualities.
best
observed
WRB
treatment.
Chloroplasts
treatment
appeared
well-developed,
clear
grana
lamellae.
thylakoids
chloroplast
plants
densely
stacked,
large
number
starch
grains
detected.
contents
total
sugar,
soluble
protein,

resulted

levels
starch,
free
amino
acids,

Enzyme
activity
assays
revealed
that
activities
sucrose
phosphate
synthetase
(SPS),
reductase
(NR),
glutamine
(GS),
glutamate
(GOGAT),
dehydrogenase
(GDH)
Therefore,
supplemental
red-blue
mixed
can
effectively
improve
properties
grown
light.

supplementary
lighting
strategy
provides
new
way

leafy
vegetables
