The paper is a discussion of the book by Witold Wachowski entitled Poznanie rozproszone: Od heurystyk do mechanizmów (Distributed Cognition: From Heuristics to Mechanisms). At beginning, I introduce theoretical context reviewed publication. Then, discuss content publication and research thesis. In further part, draw attention certain difficulties related application ecological heuristics possibility its connection with tradition developed on basis so-called free energy principle. last indicate importance discussed for contemporary debateconducted philosophy cognitive science.

Online audiovisual interaction (AVOI), though minimal, constitutes a form of embodiment. This implies that empathy can be fostered even in non-co-located individuals through online platforms. To address both the limitations and potential embodied article develops framework for comprehending cultivating virtual realm. It argues is skill fundamentally tied to our physical sensory experiences, therefore, dismisses Theory Mind (ToM) model reducing mere mental constructs with inherent limitations. Instead, it draws upon Embodied Cognitive Science (ECS) show feeling disembodiment experienced AVOI conceptualised as “shrinking of” social space. With aim widening deepening this space, introduces concrete guidelines help enrich interactive experience AVOI. Thereby, highlighting ways integrating spatiality engagement sphere, addition nurturing awareness digital tact.

In this paper, the concept of mental representation in cognitive science is explored, discussing its evolution from traditional cognitivism to Embodied Cognitive Science (ECogSci). It explains how psychology, initially influenced by computational models, has shifted towards a more holistic understanding that includes agent's sociocultural context. The paper critiques reductionist view mind as merely entity, emphasizing behavior and health are significantly shaped socio-cultural influences. commentary highlights need for broader perspective considers full enculturation representation.

Taking inspiration from humans can help catalyse embodied AI solutions for important real-world applications. Current human-inspired tools include neuromorphic systems and the developmental approach to learning. However, this neurorobotics is currently lacking frameworks human-like computation We propose that inherently embodied, with its interface world being neuromorphic, learning processes operating across different timescales. These constraints necessitate a unified framework: active inference, underpinned by free energy principle (FEP). Herein, we describe theoretical empirical support leveraging framework in agents autonomous mental development. additionally outline current implementation approaches (including toolboxes) challenges, provide suggestions next steps field.

This chapter takes inspiration from Wittgenstein’s thinking to formulate a non-reductive toolbox associated with generative modelling, specifically as applied in complex adaptive systems theory. It converges on communal perspective religion multiscale active inference that contrasts starkly common “straw person” perspectives aim reduce it “erroneous” metaphysical theorising motivated by spiritual experiences “generated the brain”. In contrast, religious practices both enable and require emergence of implicit (or “ineffable”) meanings are experienced individually (i.e., one’s personal faith) collectively (“the faith”), only partial commensurability cast under notions ‘rule-following’ ‘language games’. We show how collective perspectival aspects enculturation morals, doctrines, rituals, expressions can be formalised terms deep multi-agent systems. approach describes religions incommensurable scientific method due epistemic separation between different kinds language games practices. Touchpoints these tend give rise perpetual confusion unproductive discussions. As particularly impactful example, we discuss ethical considerations policy-making, which demonstrates our account help shed light societal challenges have emerged at touchpoints science.
