Background: Following the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, academicians from universities in Malaysia needed to ensure that quality-of-service delivery stakeholders is undisturbed by adopting new challenging norms. This compromises work-life balance (WLB), causes more stress and potentially affects their quality life (QoL).Aim: study investigates how perceived (PS) impacts QoL Malaysian COVID-19 focusing on mediating role WLB.Setting: Academics working pandemic.Methods: A cross-sectional study, using a voluntary response sampling method, was conducted among 417 September 2021. self-reported online questionnaire, measuring PS, WLB QoL, distributed.Results: The scored mean 50 (standard deviation [s.d.] = 9.84), PS 24.26 (s.d. 8.19) had score 51.12 18.73). Work-life significant mediator (β –0.43, 95% confidence interval [CI] –0.52 –0.35, p 0.0001). In recent years, there has been increasing recognition of mental health concerns in academia, with stress, burnout, anxiety, and depression being reported among faculty members. The demanding work environment, the need to balance personal professional duties, constant pressure productivity while navigating multiple tasks teaching, research, mentorship, development, service all impact overall well-being faculty. Higher education institutions have structurally changed as research landscape. The ongoing war in Ukraine has significantly impacted the mental health of academic staff, with anxiety emerging as a predominant issue.
