In
this
study,
drawing
on
an
integrated
understanding
of
the
process
model
emotion
regulation
(Gross,
2015)
and
control-value
theory
(Pekrun,
2006),
informed
by
principles
from
complex
dynamic
systems
theory,
we
used
a
network
analysis
to
examine
relationships
between
task
engagement,
achievement
emotions
(i.e.,
enjoyment,
boredom
anxiety),
348
Chinese
college
students
in
English-as-a-foreign
language
(EFL)
classes.
We
found
relatively
strong
connection
these
constructs,
with
cognitive
appraisal,
emotional
engagement
being
most
central
nodes
within
connections
emotions,
regulation,
respectively.
Notably,
peripheral
emerged
enjoyment
all
facets
which
were
positively
associated
reappraisal
but
negatively
boredom.
Expressive
suppression
was
linked
only
anxiety,
whereas
social
engagement.

The
language
learning
process
is
inherently
rich
in
emotional
experiences.
With
the
affective
turn
toward
positive
emotions
second
acquisition
(SLA),
foreign
enjoyment
(FLE)
has
gained
increasing
scholarly
attention
over
past
decade
due
to
its
pivotal
role
facilitating
and
improving
learners'
wellbeing.
However,
previous
studies
on
FLE
have
largely
adhered
ontological,
epistemological,
methodological
orthodoxy,
often
approaching
from
a
static,
monolithic,
linear
perspective.
Moreover,
much
of
this
research
was
conducted
without
explicitly
grounding
within
framework
psychology
(PP).
In
response
these
issues,
scoping
review
aims
provide
an
innovative
examination
through
lens
PP
novel
insights
into
SLA.
By
evaluating
36
PP,
article
highlights
dynamic,
interactive,
context-sensitive
nature
emotions.
It
synthesizes
key
themes
contextual
characteristics
while
identifying
current
gaps.
Finally,
