Research in second language (L2) pragmatics has paid increasing attention to learners' individual differences, but few studies have examined the relationship between willingness communicate (WTC) L2 and their pragmatic competence. To this end, study investigates association WTC awareness comprehension of Chinese as a (CSL) learners. A total 80 CSL learners studying abroad three universities China participated study. Data were collected through questionnaire, self-perceived communication competence (SPCC) judgment task, multiple-choice test for comprehension. Statistical analyses conducted explore on one hand SPCC other. The findings indicated that correlated positively with comprehension, not awareness. The present study compared the motivations to teach Chinese between native and nonnative pre-service teachers of as a second/foreign language (CSL/CFL). participants included 325 non-native Chinese-speaking CSL/CFL registered in Masters Teaching Speakers Other Languages (MTCSOL) programs; were asked complete 24-item questionnaire. Two major findings emerged. First, similar six-factor teacher motivation was observed for both teachers. Second, two groups showed non-significant differences their ratings importance cross-cultural value, intrinsic altruistic fallback career choice types but differed significantly extrinsic value social influence.
