Embodied cognition contends that sensorimotor experiences undergird cognitive processes. Three embodied cross-domain metaphorical mappings constitute quintessential illustrations: spatial navigation and orientation underpin the conceptualization of time emotion gustatory sensation underlies formulation emotion. Threading together these strands insights, present research consisted three studies explored potential influence spicy taste on people's perspectives time. The results revealed a positive correlation between ego-moving metaphor for such individuals who enjoyed (Study 1) consumed (vs. salty) snack 2) exhibited predilection perspective when cognizing temporally ambiguous event. Because both are associated with anger approach motivation, latter two were postulated to be related novel taste-time relationship. Corroborative evidence hypothesis was found, which indicated intake elicited significantly stronger toward greater approach-motivated perception rescheduled temporal event 3).
