BACKGROUND The quality of registry data is important for epidemiological research. Swedish inpatient (IPR) a national database with mandatory registration all hospitalisations since 1987, and 2007, the medical procedure codes which can be used grading severity infectious diseases. However, completeness code has rarely been studied. OBJECTIVES To determine ICU admission, mechanical ventilation extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in IPR utilising Intensive Care Registry (SIR) as gold standard. DESIGN A nationwide observational study. SETTING Covid-19 patients Sweden who required intensive care between March 2020 August 2022. PATIENTS laboratory-verified SARS-CoV-2 infection admission ( n = 8992), 5262) or ECMO 29). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES sensitivity and/or positive predictive values ICU, ventilation, diagnosis were evaluated using SIR reference. Factors associated low reporting explored dates compared SIR. RESULTS For registered needing care, ECMO, was 39.7, 78.2 100%, respectively. Of 39.7% an IPR, date corresponding to actual 52.3%. varied from 0.6 96.9% healthcare regions CONCLUSIONS Procedure showed greatly regions. This negatively influences their usability research calls updated guidelines on coding.
