Although the etiology and expression of psychiatric disorders are complex, mammals show biologically preserved behavioral neurobiological responses to valent stimuli which underlie use rodent models post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a common cause of lower back pain (LBP), which burdens individuals and society as whole. IVDD occurs result aging, mechanical trauma, lifestyle factors, certain genetic abnormalities, leads to loss nucleus pulposus, alteration in the composition extracellular matrix, excessive oxidative stress, inflammation intervertebral disc. Although chronic stress is an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) onset, the underlying mechanisms driving such pathophysiological complications remain relatively unknown. Here, dysregulation of innate response systems and effects downstream mediators are strongly implicated, with vascular endothelium emerging as a primary target excessive glucocorticoid catecholamine action. Translational animal models for studying post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are valuable elucidating the poorly understood neurobiology of this neuropsychiatric disorder. These should encompass crucial features, including persistence PTSD-like phenotypes triggered after exposure to a single traumatic event, trauma susceptibility/resilience and predictive validity. Here we propose novel arousal-based individual screening (AIS) model that recapitulates all these features. The AIS was designed by coupling traumatization (24 h restraint) C57BL/6 J mice with screening. This consists z-normalization post-trauma changes in startle reactivity, which is measure arousal depending on neural circuits conserved across mammals. Abstract Background Following exposure to traumatic stress, women are twice as likely men develop mood disorders. Yet, individual responses such stress vary, with some people developing stress-induced psychopathologies while others exhibit resilience. The factors influencing sex-related disparities in affective disorders well variations resilience remain unclear; however, emerging evidence suggests differences the gut microbiota play a role. In this study, using single prolonged (SPS) model of post-traumatic disorder, we investigated pre- and post-existing microbial composition, functionality, metabolites that affect susceptibility or each sex. Methods Male female Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly assigned control SPS groups. Two weeks following SPS, animals exposed battery behavioral tests decapitated day later. Based on their anxiety index, they further categorized SPS-resilient (SPS-R) SPS-susceptible (SPS-S). On dissection, cecum, selected brain tissues isolated. Stool samples collected before after whereas urine taken 30 min into SPS. Results Before exposure, sympathoadrenal axis exhibited alterations within male subgroups only.
