Abstract Background Depression is increasingly recognized as a worldwide serious, public health concern. A better understanding of depression important for advancing its management and learning the difference between major depressive disorder (MDD) dysthymia. Our aim to conduct concurrent analysis trends both MDD dysthymia in China. Methods The data on from 1990 2019 were collected Global Burden Disease Study (GBD 2019). To determine average annual percent changes (AAPC) relative risks (RRs), joinpoint regression age-period-cohort models employed, respectively. Results incidence number continuously increased China 2019, however, age-standardized rates (ASR) had decreasing trend men women. results showed that declining was presented young people (< 50 years) but an elderly (≥ women, during 1990–2019. Age most influential factor RRs overall increasing with age. Period RR U-shaped pattern, while Cohort inverted pattern. On other hand, period cohort effects no statistical significance, only age effect Conclusions disparities observed 1990–2019 indicated significance distinguishing these two disorders. age, all greater impact than dysthymia, different patterns two. alleviate burden disorders China, proactive measures need be implemented, particular attention population.

BackgroundSex and gender shape health. There is a growing body of evidence focused on comprehensively systematically examining the magnitude, persistence, nature differences in health between females males. Here, we aimed to quantify leading causes disease burden males across ages geographies.MethodsWe used Global Burden Disease Study 2021 compare disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) rates for 20 individuals older than 10 years at global level seven world regions, 1990 2021. We present absolute relative cause-specific DALY males.FindingsGlobally, had higher morbidity-driven conditions with largest DALYs low back pain (with 478·5 [95% uncertainty interval 346·3–632·8] more per 100 000 among males), depressive disorders (348·3 [241·3–471·0]), headache (332·9 [48·3–731·9]), whereas mortality-driven COVID-19 1767·8 [1581·1–1943·5] females), road injuries (1012·2 [934·1–1092·9]), ischaemic heart (1611·8 [1405·0–1856·3]). The sexes became larger over age remained consistent time all except HIV/AIDS. difference HIV/AIDS was observed those aged 25–49 sub-Saharan Africa 1724·8 (918·8–2613·7) males.InterpretationThe notable point an urgent need policies be based sex-specific age-specific data. It also important continue promoting gender-sensitive research, ultimately, implement interventions that not only reduce but achieve greater equity.FundingBill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) pain disorders are some of the most prevalent and disabling chronic conditions worldwide. These have a considerable impact on quality life individuals, families, communities, healthcare systems. Unfortunately, burden MSK does not fall equally across sexes. Females consistently demonstrate more severe clinical presentations disorders, this disparity increases in magnitude with age. The aim present article is to review recent studies that examined sex differences between males females four common disorders: neck pain, low back osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis.

Research suggests that colorectal cancer (CRC) is associated with mental health disorders, primarily anxiety and depression. To synthesize this evidence, we conducted a systematic review meta-analysis of studies evaluating the onset depression among patients CRC. We searched EMBASE Medline from inception to June 2022. included original, peer-reviewed that: used an epidemiologic design; CRC comparator group individuals without cancer; evaluated as outcomes. random effects models obtain pooled measures associations. Quality assessment was completed using Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Of 7326 articles identified, 8 were eligible; which 6 assessed 2 only. Meta-analyses showed non-significant association between (pooled HR 1.67; 95% CI 0.88 3.17) significant 1.78; 1.23 2.57). BackgroundChronic childhood stress is a prominent risk factor for developing affective disorders, yet mechanisms underlying this association remain unclear. Maintenance of optimal serotonin (5-HT) levels during early postnatal development critical the maturation brain circuits. Understanding long-lasting effects life (ELS) on serotonin-modulated connectivity crucial to develop treatments arising from stress.MethodsUsing mouse model chronic developmental stress, we determined consequences ELS 5-HT circuits and behavior in female male mice. Using FosTRAP mice, cross-correlated regional c-fos density determine brain-wide functional raphe nucleus. Participants completed DA-IHDQ, self-developed questionnaire designed screen for patients. categorizes into four grades: minimal no mild moderate severe depression. also assessed participants’ interest receiving Descriptive inferential statistical analyses were performed, psychometric properties including its reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.957) diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity 90.0%, specificity 98.8%), evaluated. Results: Mild was most common grade male female patients, while least prevalent. Males had higher overall frequency more cases whereas females proportion Additionally, males demonstrated significantly lower or psychiatric help, showed greater mental health DA-IHDQ exhibited strong internal consistency high identifying depressive symptoms Conclusions: findings highlight disparities engagement, emphasizing need targeted interventions. could serve as an effective screening tool care.
