Problematic gaming (PG) refers to a dysfunctional pattern of online behaviour that negatively affects individual functioning. The present study adopted network analysis approach investigate the patterns reciprocal associations between PG, defense mechanisms, and psychopathological symptoms. Participants were 1,036 adult Italian video game players (Mage = 29.94, SD 8.85; females 388) who completed self-report questionnaires. We used regularised partial correlation (EBICglasso) structure relationships among Centrality measures computed. highly influential nodes in concerned both psychological symptoms (anxiety obsessive-compulsive symptoms) mechanisms (projection autistic fantasy). Furthermore, escapism feature PG was detected as prominent bridge symptom network. Our findings suggest negative affect immature might play pivotal role withdrawal virtual world may also exacerbate Therefore, better understanding related defenses have important implications for theory clinical practice.

ABSTRACT The network approach offers a novel perspective for conceptualizing the psychopathology of social anxiety disorder (SAD). This scoping review aimed to map existing literature on psychometric structures symptoms and identify future research directions. A total 61 studies were identified through searches in PubMed, PsycINFO, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov Open Science Framework databases, employing keywords (‘social disorder’ OR ‘social phobia’ anxiety’) AND (‘network analysis’). Of these, 10 examined patients with SAD, 17 investigated such individuals without an SAD diagnosis 34 explored networks other that included symptoms. Most conducted Western Chinese populations, underscoring need broader cross‐cultural comparisons. central fear related performing interacting groups, engaging strangers or unfamiliar individuals, participating events being center attention. However, remain underexplored, offering only partial insights. emphasizes comprehensively assess adopt comparative designs deepen understanding psychopathology. These findings provide foundation utilizing analysis.

Background Disease-related fear among patients with epilepsy has significantly impacted their quality of life. The Disease-Related Fear Scale (D-RFS), comprising three dimensions, serves as a relatively well-established tool for assessing in these patients. However, certain problems potentially exist within the D-RFS’s attribution items, and its internal structure is still unclear. To establish an appropriate dimensional gain deeper comprehension structure—particularly core variables—is vital developing more effective interventions aimed at alleviating disease-related epilepsy. Methods This study employed cross-sectional survey involving 609 All participants underwent assessment using Chinese version D-RFS. We used exploratory network analysis to discover new investigate interrelationships symptom domains. In addition regularized partial correlation network, we also estimated node bridge centrality index identify importance each item network. Finally, it was applied analyze differences outcomes different seizure frequencies. Results research findings indicate that nodes symptoms are interconnected, there no isolated nodes. Nodes groups 3 4 present strongest centrality. Additionally, tight interconnection exists group. Moreover, frequency epileptic episodes does not impact structure. Conclusion this study, 5-dimension constructed D-RFS, disease been conceptualized through perspective. goal potential targets relevant insights future research.
