Abstract Background Harsh parenting has been recognized as a risk factor for adolescent anxiety; however, the underlying mechanisms of this relationship remain unclear, and it is unknown whether influenced by different parental roles living arrangements. This study aimed to investigate mediating between harsh anxiety symptoms using multiple mediation model further compare specific distinguish Methods A total 3505 adolescents completed survey, 3295 (54.7% girls, M age = 14.97 years) were included in study. Participants self-assessments measuring parenting, self-efficacy, school connectedness, Internet addiction, sleep problems, anxiety. They categorized into three groups based on arrangements: with both parents, only mother, or father. Results Correlational analyses revealed that maternal paternal associated increased symptoms.
