Previous research suggests that older adults may display more prosocial behavior than younger adults. However, recent meta-analyses indicate effects are heterogeneous, be small, and influenced by how prosociality is measured. Further, the precise cognitive computational factors contributing to age-related differences in remain largely unknown. In this study, we utilized a modified dictator game combine value-based decision framework with Bayesian hierarchical drift-diffusion modeling investigate decision-making sample of (n = 63) 48). We observed individuals incorporate information corresponding potential gains for themselves (self) another person (other) reach (potentially prosocial) decision. Younger integrated values benefits others process demonstrated increased efficiency effectively integrating both sources information. contrast, OA showed improved when solely considering self separately. Interestingly, individual capacity inhibitory control moderated age effects: stronger abilities made decisions based on others, showing behavioral pattern similar Together, these findings offer new insights into mechanisms influencing decision-making.

There is a lack of research directly examining the relationships between future orientation, individualism, prosocial engagement and identity status among Chinese youth. This study focuses on moderating role in relationship individualistic values, orientation behaviours. The sample consists 1817 youth aged 15 28. Six patterns statuses were identified by hierarchical cluster analysis. Path analysis was conducted to examine independent variables youths’ effects status. results showed that significantly related engagement, while value not associated with it. interaction affects engagement. effect greater for those searching moratorium carefree diffusion lower achievement foreclosure. These imply time perspective intervention may facilitate students who mature committed identity.

Abstract People are self-biased for rewards. We place a higher value on rewards if we receive them than other people do. However, existing work has ignored one of the most powerful theorems from behavioural ecology how animals seek resources in everyday life, Marginal Value Theorem (MVT), which accounts optimal behaviour maximising intake rate. Does this self-bias help humans maximise when foraging their own benefit compared to others? Participants had decide leave patches where reward was gradually depleting, environments with different average rates. Half time participants foraged themselves, and half they collected an anonymous stranger. The MVT derived solution states should instantaneous patch equals rate environment. Across two studies, were more self, showing reduced sensitivity other. Autistic traits linked rates self but not These results highlight that may be adaptive, helping intake.
