Studies indicate that stress levels of autistic adolescents may be particularly high. Therefore, support is needed to help them deal with their stressors. Stress Autism Mate (SAM) Junior, a mobile self-help tool, was designed in co-creation autism reduce daily levels. The app based on the SAM app, which previously shown effective reducing adults. There is growing research interest in examining how cultivating autistic adults’ self-compassion may improve their mental health and overall well-being. Research on trauma treatment in people with severe intellectual disability (SID; IQ 20–35) is scarce, and controlled studies are lacking. This study examined the effectiveness of eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy using storytelling method three adults SID posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A multiple-baseline design was used to examine effects EMDR PTSD classification, symptoms, challenging behaviors, dysfunctional behaviors PTSD. resulted a significant decrease most behaviors. None participants had classification anymore after EMDR. Findings suggest be effective SID. Follow-up research larger sample size required.

Abstract Background Autism is characterised by unique patterns of social interaction, communication and repetitive behaviours, often accompanied comorbid conditions such as mood disorders anxiety. Standard psychological interventions, applied behaviour analysis (ABA) skill training (SST), are commonly used but remain controversial due to their focus on aligning autistic individuals with societal norms. Aims This paper critically evaluates standard approaches targeting core traits explores the therapeutic potential prioritising comorbidities coherently neurodiversity‐affirming strategies. Materials Methods A critical clinical empirical literature was conducted evaluate efficacy, ethical issues broader implications interventions ABA SST.
