Achieving sufficient COVID-19 vaccination coverage has been hindered in many areas by vaccine hesitancy. Many studies based on large survey samples have characterized refusal, but there are fewer in-depth qualitative that explore hesitant adoption: the middle-ground between acceptance and how individuals may move across this continuum depending their lived experience. For paper, we use narratives of 25 adults living off-road, predominately Alaska Native communities to describe complex decision-making processes undertaken 'hesitant adopters', defined our study as those who completed initial series despite reporting Interviewees' stories help illustrate adopters' involved making sense information through interactions with trusted individuals, experiences, observations, emotions, personal motivations. majority these (n = 20, 80%) interpersonal were key helping make decision get vaccinated. Over half interviewees 14, 56%) described conversations they trusted, including healthcare providers, family, friends, professional network made them feel safe. One third adopters 7, 28%) attributed vaccinated influence Elders knowledge, well being motivated desire protect them. Independent research was also important about a quarter 6, 24%), for it process gathering own learning from others, especially providers could answer questions alleviate concerns. This paper illustrates temporality decision-making: be an ongoing is influenced experience, relationships, context.

WHO identifies vaccine hesitancy (VH) as one of the ten threats to global health. The authors bring international scientific community an Italian episode that offers opportunity renew discussion on extent VH matter. purpose this systematic review is analyze factors determining in population, understand its roots, and suggest potential strategies mitigate it. A literature according PRISMA guidelines was carried out using SCOPUS Medline (via PubMed) databases, following strategy: (COVID-19 vaccines) AND (vaccination hesitancy) (Italy). After selection process, 36 articles were included review. most frequently detected associated with population can be grouped vaccine-related factors, socio-cultural demographic factors. Currently, we are facing a gap between science, governments, institutions. To heal breach, it necessary strengthen trust through implementation health communication public education strategies, while literacy must continue support families individuals discerning evidence from opinions recognize real risks balance them benefits.

Despite scientific breakthroughs in vaccine development, some people remain reluctant to accept the anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. This study evaluates attitudes and behaviours towards factors associated with refusal/hesitancy at start of Italy's vaccination campaign. EPICOVID19 is a two-phase observational web-based where adult volunteers completed questionnaires April-June 2020 January-February 2021. Refusal/hesitancy was assessed among those not yet vaccinated. We analysed by applying multivariate multinomial logistic regression models. Among 36,820 survey participants (mean age 51 years, 59.7% women, 63.6% highly educated), 2449 (6.7%) were against or hesitant, 4468 (12.1%) inclined but unsure, 29,903 (81.2%) willing be Factors positively included female sex, middle age, at-risk occupations, medium low education, deprived status, being underweight, previous SARS-CoV-2 positivity, poor perceived health, no fear contracting SARS-CoV-2, contaminated food natural disasters, trust science, media, government, institutions. Low hesitancy student retired overweight obesity, moderate high alcohol consumption, concern about economic working conditions, sensitivity climate change/environmental pollution epidemics. showed that, during first month campaign, individuals receive highlights potential target groups for tailored communication prevention campaigns.

Abstract COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the mental health and well-being (WB) of citizens. This cross-sectional study included 4 waves data collection aimed at identifying profiles individuals with different levels WB. The representative stratified sample 10,013 respondents in Italy. WHO 5-item scale (WHO-5) was used for assessment Different supervised machine learning approaches (multinomial logistic regression, partial least-square discriminant analysis—PLS-DA—, classification tree—CT—) were applied to identify individual characteristics WB scores, first 1–2 and, subsequently, 3 4. Forty-one percent participants reported “Good WB”, 30% “Poor 28% “Depression”. Findings carried out using multinomial regression show that R esilience most important variable able discriminating across all waves. Through PLS-DA, Increased Unhealthy Behaviours proved be more feature two waves, while Financial Situation gained relevance last two. Perceived Risk relevant, but less than other variables, Interestingly, CT we establish cut-off Resilience (equal 4.5) discriminated good probability 65% wave Concluding, found implications Governments should support evidence-based strategies considering factors influence (i.e., Resilience, Risk, Healthy Behaviours, ).

Despite the rigorous investigation of phenomenon vaccine hesitancy and refusal during COVID-19 pandemic, socioeconomic determinants this remain poorly investigated on a global scale. Following proportional quota sampling, we conducted population-based cross-sectional study. We recruited participants on-site online from different settings, regions, strata in two Eastern Mediterranean populations, Greece Cyprus. Our approach provided nationwide sample (n = 576) approaching adult population structure countries, with slight underrepresentation men older people. results indicate clear differences vaccination coverage, consistent wider social inequalities health. To understand and assess vaccine reluctance, it is necessary to evaluate people’s perceptions grasp potential reasons for generic apprehension. In our analysis, we focus on adolescents’ impressions towards anti-vaxxer behavior. The aim of the study figure out students’ opinions about connecting possible explanations that motivate decisions with common specific personality traits. We further investigate forecasts concerning evolution pandemic. Between 2021 2022, conducted a randomized survey experiment sample high school individuals (N=395) living in different Italian regions. At time, vaccination campaign had already been promoted nearly one year. From emerges vaccinated people (92%), especially males, tend be more pessimistic attribute higher level distrust science anti-vaxxers. results show family background (mother’s education) represents most influential regressor: coming from less educated families are prone vaccines as principal reluctance. Similarly, those who rarely use social media develop minor tendency believe pessimism However, future pandemic, they likely optimistic toward vaccines. Overall, findings shed light regarding factors influence hesitancy highlight need targeted communication strategies improve rates.
