Background Street greenery may have a profound effect on residents’ active travel (AT), mode of transportation involving walking and cycling. This study systematically reviewed the scientific evidence effects street travel. Methods A comprehensive search was performed using keywords references in PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library. The review included studies that met following criteria: (1) Study design: experimental studies, cross sectional (2) Participants: individuals all ages, (3) Exposure variables: greenery, including vegetation (e.g., trees, shrubs, lawns), (4) Outcomes: behaviors (walking, cycling), (5) Article type: peer-reviewed articles, (6) Search time window: from inception relevant electronic literature database until 21 June 2023, (7) Geographic scope: worldwide; (8) Language: articles English. Results Twenty-six cross-sectional inclusion criteria were analyzed. These employed objective metrics for assessing varied methodologies to measure AT, 14 subjective measurements (like self-reported surveys), 10 data (such as mobile app analytics), two combined both approaches. identifies generally positive impact various aspects. However, extent this influence varies with factors such temporal (weekdays vs. weekends), demographic segments (age gender), proximity parameters (buffer distances), green space quantification techniques. greenness promotes by enhancing environmental esthetics, safety, comfort, while also improving air quality, reducing noise, fostering social interactions. In addition, suggests variables like weather, seasonality, cultural context correlate effectiveness encouraging Conclusion positively influences travel, contributing public health sustainability. findings indicate need more granular, experimental, longitudinal better understand relationship underlying mechanisms. insights are pivotal urban planners policymakers optimizing infrastructure promote transportation, taking into account local demographics, socio-economic factors, design.

Abstract Purpose of Review Urban green spaces provide benefits for human health and well-being, among other properties, thanks to their ability attenuate environmental pollutants. These are potential quiet areas with good acoustic quality if they designed planned properly from a multidisciplinary perspective. Although the mitigating effects infrastructure have been extensively studied, application very limited. objective study analyze those characteristics that contribute soundscape and, turn, would give them areas, users, physical environment. Abstract Background The co-occurrence of diabetes and mental disorders is an exceedingly common comorbidity with poor prognosis. We aim to investigate the impact green space, garden natural environment on risk among population living diabetes. Methods performed a longitudinal analysis based 39,397 participants from UK Biobank. Residential space modeled land use data Land Cover Map were assigned residential address for each participant. Cox proportional hazards model was used analyze associations between nature exposures Casual mediation quantify indirect effect air pollution. Results During mean follow-up 7.55 years, 4513 incident cases identified, including 2952 depressive 1209 anxiety disorders. Participants at 300 m buffer in second third tertiles had 7% (HR = 0.93, 95%CI: 0.86–0.99) 12% 0.88, 0.82–0.94) lower risks compared those first tertile, respectively. incidence patients will decrease by 13% when exposed tertile buffer. individually prevented 6.65% 10.18% incidents patients. statistically decreased 1000 0.84, 95% CI: 0.78–0.90). Protective effects three against also observed. Air pollution, particularly nitrogen dioxide, oxides, fine particulate matter, significantly contributed disorders, mediating 48.3%, 29.2%, 62.4% associations, Conclusions could mitigate patients, pollution playing vital mediator. This highlights potential local governments enhance sustainability such interventions, grounded public health urban planning, through strategic planning initiatives. Graphical

The influence of residential greenness on maternal gestational weight gain (GWG) and fetal intrauterine growth remains understudied. This study examined the impact GWG assessed mediating role GWG. research included 29406 births in Shanghai, utilizing normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) to measure within a 500 m radius (NDVI-500). analysis employed generalized linear model assess impacts residental GWG, birthweight, mediation explore GWG's between development. Results indicated that significant benefits were observed with increased greenness, where each 0.1 unit increase NDVI-500 was associated reductions 9.4% (95% CI: 5.5%–13.2%) risk head circumference undergrowth 8.5% 4.8%–12.2%) estimated undergrowth. Additionally, 5.1%–13.5%) 9.2% 6.2%–12.0%) inadequate excessive respectively. Notably, total mediated 17.5% relationship birth weight. These findings suggest enhancing could be an effective public health strategy improve pregnancy outcomes by promoting managing partially these benefits.
