Earthquake misinformation has not only a significant impact on crisis management, but also trust in scientific information and institutions. As global center for seismic information, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) developed strategy to combat false related earthquakes, particularly Twitter (now known as X). This includes automation of prebunking tweets prevent spread and, unreliable claims earthquake predictions. In field predictions earthquakes have particular characteristic: their appearance follows specific dynamic attention paid them is predictable, which makes countermeasures (prebunking debunking) both possible relevant. The 2024-10-05 Iran M 4.5 earthquake took place at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East. We perform discrimination and moment tensor analysis identify shallow-dipping, reverse fault source commensurate with compressional setting Iranian interior. Nonetheless, event's aftermath saw widespread dissemination misinformation, potentially active disinformation, concluding that it was fact test an nuclear weapon. `evidence' for many these claims based on inaccurate interpretation seismic data. In this paper, we analyse how geophysical `fake news' propagated through social media (mainly Twitter/X) following event, eventually gaining traction mainstream, earned media. This event is illustrative warning data can be misinterpreted and/or manipulated public discourse.
