The burden of mental disorders (MD) in the Western Pacific Region (WPR) remains a critical public health concern, with substantial variations across demographics and countries. To analyze MD WPR from 1990 to 2021, along associated risk factors, reveal changing trends emerging challenges. We used data Global Burden Disease analyzing prevalence, incidence, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) 2021. Statistical methods included age-standardisation uncertainty analysis address population structure completeness. Between prevalence rose 174.40 million cases [95% interval (UI): 160.17-189.84] 234.90 (95%UI: 219.04-252.50), corresponding DALYs increasing 22.8 17.22-28.79) 32.07 24.50-40.68). During this period, shifted towards older age groups. Depressive anxiety were predominant, females showing higher for depressive disorders, males more affected by conduct attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders. Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia reported highest burdens, whereas Vietnam, China, Brunei Darussalam lowest. Additionally, childhood sexual abuse bullying, intimate partner violence emerged as significant factors. This study highlights WPR, age, gender, nation. coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has exacerbated situation, emphasizing need coordinated response.

Objectives: Hikikomori is a condition characterized by extreme social withdrawal, functional impairment, and mental distress, which has gained increasing recognition worldwide. While it can be associated with comorbid psychiatric disorders, hikikomori shares similarities autism spectrum, prompting investigations into their relationship. Given that commonly manifests in early adulthood, this study aimed to explore the relationship between autistic features tendencies among university students. Methods: A total of 2037 students were recruited via an online survey assessed Adult Autism Subthreshold (AdAS) Spectrum Questionnaire (HQ-25). Participants categorized four groups: healthy controls (HCs), subjects (HKs), significant traits (ATs), both ATs (AT-HKs). Results: Results showed effects presence on AdAS HQ-25 scores, while effect interaction was detected scores. The AT-HK group consistently scored higher compared other groups, AT HK groups outperforming HCs specific domains. Socialization Isolation domains predicted scores subjects, various served as predictors subjects. Conclusions: This highlights students, suggesting comorbidity may represent more severe phenotype, where each exacerbate other.

In the 1990s, concepts of hikikomori and modern-type depression (MTD) emerged in Japan. Hikikomori is a condition social avoidance or isolation, characterized by staying at home being physically isolated for least six months. MTD depressive symptoms—mainly stressful work school situations during adolescence early adulthood—which tend to rapidly reduce disappear after leaving situation. We hypothesized that childhood maltreatment can form traits lead hikikomori. As first step, we conducted multigroup path analysis between maltreatment, traits, physical isolation group. This study utilized nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Home Environment (HEQ), 22-item Tarumi Modern-Type Depressive Trait Scale (TACS-22), 25-item (HQ-25), Hamilton Depression Rating (HDRS). The HQ-25 contains three factors: lack socialization, emotional support. group included 92 patients control comprised 137 healthy individuals.
