Background/Objectives: Globally, there has been an increase in the prevalence of anxiety and depression among university students, medical students are no exception. Medical especially susceptible to these mental health challenges, primarily due multifaceted stressors, which can significantly impact their academic achievements future career. There is a pressing need for comprehensive research that not only investigates but also explores strategies developing effective interventions support systems enhance well-being students. Therefore, this study aimed identify severity at South Africa, evaluating association socio-demographic, student, clinical variables with total general disorder (GAD-7) patient questionnaire (PHQ-9) scores. Methods: A survey-based quantitative cross-sectional was conducted 208 undergraduate African university. Participants who provided written consent completed GAD-7 PHQ-9 questionnaires together variable information. The relationship between scores determined using Mann–Whitney U test Kruskal–Wallis H test. Correlation analysis used establish threshold statistical significance set p ≤ 0.05.
