The persistent production of inflammatory cytokines causes anemia chronic disease (ACD). Playing a central role in the pathophysiology ACD is hepcidin, key regulator iron metabolism. regulation hepcidin expression complex process intricately controlled by multiple pathways. These include BMP/SMAD, HFE–TFR2, and IL-6/STAT3 pathway, each playing significant this regulation. We detail critical repulsive guidance molecule (RGM) family, especially hemojuvelin (HJV/RGMc), regulating ACD. HJV functions as co-receptor for BMPs positively regulates expression. RGMa RGMb may also regulate responses. RGM family proteins play essential roles interplay between inflammation, metabolism, immune system, elucidating them could lead to better understanding development new therapeutic strategies.

All eight pangolin species, especially captive Manis pentadactyla, are critically endangered and susceptible to various pathogenic microorganisms, causing mass mortality. They involved in the complement system, iron transport inflammatory factors. M. pentadactyla exhibited a higher abundance of opportunistic pathogens, Moraxella, which potentially evaded complement-mediated immune response by reducing C5 levels counteracting detrimental effects through transferrin neutralization. In addition, we found that major structure C5a, an important factor, was lacking javanica. brief, this study revealed differences factors microbiome between javanica thus providing theoretical basis for subsequent immunotherapy.
