Cownose rays (Family Rhinopteridae) are highly migratory pelagic that generally restricted to continental shelves. Despite 100's of years natural history records, cownose have never been reported in Bermuda, an atoll-like coral reef ecosystem is separated from the mainland United States by ~1,000 km. Here we compile evidence Atlantic ray ( Rhinoptera bonasus ) has recently established supported both morphological and genetic data. Potential ecological inter-specific competition concerns presented as well probable physical mechanisms facilitated this recent presumed range expansion.
