The
rational
development
of
urban
underground
space
resources
(UUSRs)
is
especially
crucial
for
alleviating
“urban
diseases”,
and
it

exploring

appropriateness
(UUS)
under
multiple

Our
study
meticulously
pursued
its
objectives
through
a
strategic
data-gathering
approach
and

analytical
evaluation.

we
undertook
an

geographical
environmental

high-resolution
satellite
images

GIS-based

suitable
areas
for
urban
development.

coastal
nearby
plains,
spanning
198.89
square
kilometers
or
8.25%
total
area,
as
highly
appropriate
development
due
their
potential
desalination
tourism,
proximity

infrastructure

forthcoming
NEOM
airport
high-speed
railway
connections.
The
findings
from
Southwestern
model
corroborate
with
NEOM’s
goals,
especially
validating
chosen
location
Line.
This
is
considered
ideal
accessibility,

water
management,
thereby
supporting

initiative.

Underground
space
is
considered
a
critical
urban
resource
that
can
significantly
promote
sustainable
development
under
rational
planning.
This
study,
taking
the
Longgang
region
in
SE
China
as
an
example,
comprehensively
considers
dual
influences
of
geological
environmental
factors
and
socio-economic
factors,
incorporating
key
cost
indicators.
Following
principle
“stratification
classification”,
detailed
assessment
framework
was
developed
to
evaluate
suitability
underground
for
across
various
depths,
systematic
analysis
conducted.
Specifically,
we
employed
fuzzy
comprehensive
evaluation
method
